A Defense of Skeptics

Hi there! I am an energy healer, astrologer and clairvoyant, but I also have a skeptical side. Here are my thoughts on skepticism.

  • There are places where it’s not needed. Creativity, imagination, art, love, trusting your heart. Finding happiness.
  • There are places where it is useful. Nobody wants to believe everything they come across. Skepticism = discernment.
  • There are places where it is necessary. A lot of things in life need science to back them up.

That is from a functional point of view. From an ego point of view, if we build our identity on being skeptics, or not being skeptics, that keeps us from distinguishing between the three scenarios mentioned above.

I enjoy talking to skeptics, atheists, etc. In some way, it’s easier to have a conversation with them, than with religious people who are scared of what I do. Skeptics are often open minded - I have to admit I wasn’t that open minded when I was starting out, and a lot of that was due to that rational identity. Would people laugh at me? Would they think I had lost my mind. I was worried about how I would be perceived by others.

I keep reminding myself that one of my philosophy professors would say that if we worried about how we’d be perceived through our writing, we’d lose our readers. Funny enough, the people who convinced me to open up and take my spiritual path seriously were scientist friends from college. My uni had a big science and research focus (I was in humanities, not science). View it as an experiment, they said.

Eventually I got to the point where I thought, ok I don't need to worry about what skeptics think of me, as long as I am still able to apply skepticism in my life. Apply it, but don't let the ego stop you.

You’ll find 16 years of blog posts on this website. It’s my journey into the spiritual and energy healing world. There has been a lot of intuition and imagination on this journey. I have explored lots of energy healing techniques - all of them are complementary to medical care. As you’ll see from reading some of my posts, I worked in marketing at a healthcare company and have 3+ years of product development behind me.

The science element brought a big learning curve, when I started that job. I learned a ton. I respect medicine. I respect science, but I also love and value intuition, imagination and spiritual practices.

Thank you for reading my blog!
