Is Manifesting for Real?

A while ago I wrote a post asking if spirit guides are real (see here) - pointing out that we have to challenge our beliefs, and also how we interpret what happens to us. Let's not get stuck in an idea or a worldview.

So today I'm going to take this approach to manifesting - is it for real? I don't think manifesting is for real, nor should it be the main focus in our lives. And honestly, I say this despite evidence to the contrary in my own life, i.e. things that I've manifested.

My issue with manifesting is that it's focused on ourselves and what we can get in the material world. Personally, I've had good results applying conventional methods to get ahead - with help from my angels and guides. But still, it took drive and ambition to find a good corporate job in London, years ago. That and focusing on my personal competencies, and on the soft skills that were needed. Putting myself out there, networking, knocking on doors. Real world activities. In terms of manifesting - I haven't had out of this world results, to be honest.

With regards to our vibration and personal energy, I do think we resonate with people based on who we are, and how much we believe in ourselves. I often use affirmations to boost my self-esteem, focusing on things that I know, for sure, that I do well (I'm a good writer, and I was proactive at getting things done) ... as I have mentioned elsewhere, if you believe in yourself, it's likely others will believe in you too. We all have strengths to rely on, focus on that.

Is there any truth to manifesting?

So, I have had success manifesting opportunities out of thin air (even things that seemed out of reach) but looking back on it, those things happened when the clock struck three, astrologically speaking.

For example, I wanted to be featured in a big magazine and when I looked at their guidelines, it said they took submissions from writers who were already in similar magazines. Not the case with me -  I let go of that particular dream and focused on something else. Shortly after, my intuition told me to celebrate every time I saw a published author in a magazine. And would you know it, a few weeks later, a writer from that very magazine reached out and asked me a few questions about what I do!

I was mentioned in the magazine- one line in print, and online too. That was crazy. I thought I manifested it myself, and maybe I did, to a degree. But later, while looking at astrology transits to my chart, I noticed that the day I received the email from the magazine, Uranus (the planet that rules my Aquarius Sun) was exactly 120 degrees away from my North Node in Leo - the part of my chart that pushes me to shine, even if I don't want to. That 120 degree angle is about things falling into your lap with ease & luck. Your North Node sits outside your comfort zone; it's not something you chase. You may even avoid it lol. We usually do.

So maybe I manifested it myself, maybe the planets did - and maybe it just fell into place when the time was right. The thing is Uranus takes 84 years to circle through the Zodiac, and funny enough, there will only be a handful of days in my whole life (6-9 days) when Uranus would have been in a position to send something out of the blue - relating to my North Node. That email landed in my inbox on one of those days, which was crazy, in terms of coincidences. The online article was published when Uranus was 1-2 days away from my Part of Fortune, a transit that happens once in your life. It hasn't translated to material success (the article), but maybe it's an indication of what is possible. And that I would enjoy it too.

So, it didn't change my life, but it happened. The active part of the manifestation, for me, was to let go of envy, and/or the feeling that I wanted something that I'd never be able to experience. I think that is how the magick happened - to be honest. Also, I had zero expectations around it.

What if manifesting is about who we become?

This had been my take all along …My books are on energy healing and working through our beliefs and emotions - Chakra Healing & Magick looks at healing ourselves so that we're in the frame of mind to take advantage of opportunities that come our way. Namely, with Fire (confidence and heart), Earth (practicality), Air (logic) and Water (empathy). This ties in with the natal chart. You can see what Elements are already at play in your life and personality. Dial up what's missing. Trust yourself too!

So as you can tell, I think it's for real, and not, at the same time. A lot of what happens is up to us. That is a good thing 🍎🍎🍎

Thanks for reading the blog!

Healing the Shadow with Astrology and Magick

Shadow healing! This was the first in a series of guest posts of mine, on an astrology blog. I’ve republished a few of them here. This one goes well with my book, Chakra Healing & Magick. Chapter 7 looks at crystal magick and the Shadow, with no mention of astrology.

***

"The way we approach anything in life is often shaped by our background, and as an energy healer, it is not surprising that natal astrology has provided not only a tool for understanding myself and how I interact with the world around me, but also a roadmap for self-healing. Studying our natal charts reveals many secrets, one of which brings the realization that:

My Shadow Is Someone Else's Light.

We all have feelings, desires, and qualities within ourselves that we hide from others, and often, hide them so deeply that we may not be aware of those qualities within ourselves. Eventually, we meet someone who displays those qualities openly - perhaps ambition or frivolity - and  it rubs us the wrong way. What we dislike in others is often a reflection of the qualities within ourselves that we have yet to acknowledge. Along the same lines, what we admire in others can also be an expression of the capabilities that we have yet to develop . . .

In healing circles, this is known as our Shadow, and in astrology, those aspects can be explored, healed and integrated by working with the signs that sit opposite each other on the Zodiac. If we think of the Zodiac as six coins with two faces each, a person born under the sign of Libra will have as his opposite Aries. Within themselves, they have Libra's social skills, diplomacy, and fairness, but also the potential for Aries' confidence and the Ram's desire to be first. How comfortable they are with that Fire influences how they react to those qualities in others. Most of us identify with one side of the coin more than the other - feeling uncomfortable with those aspects when we see them in others, etc.

That dislike can send us running for the hills, but ironically, the more time we spend with that energy, the more comfortable we will feel with it. Eventually, we may even embrace it within ourselves, using those characteristics to our advantage. All of the Zodiac signs have strengths and weaknesses and to draw on our Shadow's strengths, we have to become comfortable enough to embrace all of it.

In this example, the healing comes about when the Libra person can connect with both sides of the coin, interacting with others in a friendly, cooperative manner, while also displaying the Aries qualities of leadership, action and a healthy level of selfishness – standing their ground when necessary. There are several healing methods that can bring about this appreciation for the Shadow.
The signs that sit opposite each other on the Zodiac Wheel are Aries & Libra, Taurus & Scorpio, Gemini & Sagittarius, Cancer & Capricorn, Leo & Aquarius, Virgo & Pisces. The first place to look would be our Sun Sign and its opposite, although the Moon and its Nodes are also essential.

How Do We Bring About This Healing???

A simple way for us to access both our Light and Shadow sides – without overloading ourselves – would be to work with crystals and with flower essences. We could begin by choosing the essences that correspond with the Zodiac sign that we want to connect with. So for example, if we feel uncomfortable with the energy of a particular sign, we can add a few drops of that sign’s Bach Flower Essence to our drinking water. The relationship between Bach Flower Essences and Zodiac signs was laid out in Peter Damian’s book, The 12 Healers of the Zodiac. Another option would be to choose crystals whose energy corresponds to the sign in question, and carry it with us for a month so that we begin to assimilate its energy. Soon enough, we begin to feel comfortable with that energy within ourselves, while embracing (or at least accepting) it in others.

Here is a list of crystal correspondences, by no means exhaustive:

  • Aries: Bloodstone, Red Jasper.
  • Taurus: Rose Quartz, Lapis Lazuli.
  • Gemini: Citrine, Agate Moss.
  • Cancer: Moon Stone, Smoky Quartz
  • Leo: Tigers Eye, Sunstone, Clear Quartz.
  • Virgo: Chrysocolla, Fluorite.
  • Libra: Aventurine, Malachite.
  • Scorpio: Garnet, Blue Beryl, Labradorite.
  • Sagittarius: Sodalite, Pietersite, Red Jasper.
  • Capricorn: Black Tourmaline, Jet, Obsidian.
  • Aquarius: Aquamarine, Amethyst.
  • Pisces: Sodalite, Rhodochrosite.

Crystals need to be cleared and charged before we use them to be sure  we are not carrying the energy of the previous owner. This can be done  by leaving them on a bed of rock salt for 1-2 hours, and then holding them in our dominant hand, stating the intent. Ask that the crystal work for your highest good! Thank the crystal and clear it when you no longer need that energy. If the crystals mentioned above are difficult to acquire, we can also work with clear quartz, programming the crystal when the Moon is in the Sign that we want to connect with (a bit of moon magick!).

By integrating the Shadow we can access talents that were just beyond our reach, before moving onto other aspects of the natal chart that can also be balanced and healed with crystal healing."

Natal Astrology is covered HERE, including how to read your natal chart. My book looks at energy healing only - the idea is to combine the two. Stay tuned for the rest of the astrology posts. As mentioned, I'd been guest-blogging on an astrology website; that site is sadly shutting down. I've reposted my own articles here.

The Planets, Cosmic Geometry and our Unconscious Patterns

If you’ve had a look at this intro to natal astrology, there is a paragraph near the end that talks about alchemy being found in the blue and red lines that criss cross the chart. These lines represent Aspects, or geometric patterns between the planets ⚡️⚡️⚡️

As an energy healer, I focus on planetary Aspects in my self healing sessions. Below you’ll find an explanation. I first published this article on a friend’s astrology site - it was featured in her newsletter in 2022.

>> Please Note: This is an intermediate astrology post. Check out the menu bar for an introduction to astrology and charts.

Aspects In Astrology: Deep Dive Into Your Unconscious

Journaling has been one of my favorite activities since childhood, just writing about how I felt in any given situation. Decades later, I discovered energy healing and natal astrology. This brought the light of wisdom and compassion to my journaling practiceThe natal chart opened my eyes.

Our emotional reactions to life can be seen in Planetary Aspects– those red, blue and dotted lines that crisscross a chart. Each of the Planets represents a part of your psychethe flow of energy between them tells us if they move in alignmentor if they create stumbling blocks.

The more I journaled about the difficult Aspects in my chart, the easier it was to pinpoint beliefs, emotional reactionsand unconscious patterns that undermined my happiness. Judy Hall’s The Astrology Bible is one of my favorite astrology books, thanks to the chapter on aspects. It tells you how aspects between specific planets look when functional vs in self-sabotage mode. When in doubt, have a look at that chapter, and then focus on healing any dysfunction.

A Case Study (Me!)

For example, Mercury and Jupiter oppose each other in my chart. The planet of the Mind is in the 10th house of Work, in Pisces, a sign that dreams up endless scenariosWith Jupiter in Virgo, the perfectionist worrywart, obsessed over what can go wrongOr what people might say about my work. With two additional planets in Virgo (including Saturn!), I soon discovered that my inner critic had the loudest voice of all. Journaling and energy healing turned down the volume.

Below you will find a summary of Aspects to use as journaling prompts

Integrating the tough Aspects creates the biggest transformations, especially those with orbs under three degrees. The orb is the difference in degrees, for example, Mars at 14 degrees vs Jupiter at 17 degrees has a 3 degree orb. Whether it’s a conjunction, a square or an opposition depends on what Signs they are in.

Conjunction: Two planets are in the same sign, or no more than 10 degrees apart. It’s likely one will eclipse the other, though in some cases they join forces and give the native more power.

Square: Productive tension between two planets, much like the tension that a violin’s strings need to create sound. Two competing forces challenge the native to raise their game.

Opposition: This is the most challenging aspect as the qualities represented by the opposition are manifested in the outside world as head-on collisions or challenges. We actually need to integrate warring parts of our psyche before we find peace and power in the world.

QuincuxMy first astrology teacher described this as pebble in your shoe, a small annoyance that we try to ignore. The pain grows with time until we are forced to look at it. The biggest gains can be found in this Aspect, often resolving issues that can drag on for decades. 150 degrees apart, or almost opposites.

These are the challenging Aspects, the ones that typically bring a bit of creative tension. We also have Aspects (geometric patterns) that bring ease into our lives, namely Trines and Sextiles. I haven’t gone into the specifics in this blog post.

There are plenty of ways to integrate what we find in the natal chart. You will find a guided meditation on Youtube HERE, designed to integrate oppositions in the astrology chart. The foundations of energy healing are covered in my books: Amazon.com/author/reginachouza

Retrogrades: A Do-It-Yourself Astrological Pharmacy

This is a post on the psychological impact of retrogrades.I think retrogrades only affect us if we haven't worked through our issues. I don’t spend a lot of time thinking about them, and heal myself ahead of time. This article was published as a guest post on an astrology website in 2018.

***

We have all heard phrases like Aries energy is full of spirit but sometimes impatient, or Capricorn is reliable but overly concerned with material gain. Each of the Zodiac signs has a spectrum of traits that range from highly functional benefits to quirks that can easily become stumbling blocks (or let’s face it, pitfalls). While we should never stereotype, this is what it means to be human and developing self-awareness makes a huge difference. From this perspective, an astrology chart is a treasure of a roadmap. It tells us so much about ourselves.

Astrology spells out the limiting behaviors that are common in each sign. By combining this with self awareness and energy healing, we can retrain our instincts so they are no longer based on fear or false beliefs. For example, an Aries female can stop herself if her impatience starts to get the better of her. Or a Virgo man can see his attention to detail devolving into obsessive or compulsive behavior. Rather than say “I was built this” way, we make an effort and change.

What Happens In Crisis Situations?

What happens to our self-awareness during crisis situations? In one of his book launches, the late Wayne Dyer stood on stage with a half-cut orange and squeezed it until the juice dripped out, telling us that when people are under pressure, that’s when we see what is inside them. We show our true colors. The natal chart, especially our Sun and Moon signs, often influence the way each of us reacts in crisis situations as they rule our spirit and emotional security.

Astrological transits can tell us when these high-stress periods will come along. So for example, if we look at Pluto and Saturn in in Capricorn, people with personal planets in Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) will feel the crunch. We can use this knowledge in two ways: first, to get ahead of ourselves by using the theoretical understanding of astrology to make changes in relevant life areas. What houses and planets that will find themselves under pressure with the transit? Is there anything that you have been avoiding?

The second approach to transits involves vibrational healing – using tools like homeopathy, crystals, essential oils and flower remedies to keep stress in check so that we act out less.

The Benefits of Vibrational Healing

We are all made of energy, our thoughts, our emotions and even our metabolic processes. The physical body is surrounded by a light body known as the Aura; it acts as a filter for all of the vibes we send out into the world and those we receive. For simplicity’s sake, we can visualize the Aura as made up of four layers: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. The Spiritual layer includes an energetic imprint of our natal astrology chart, which as we know, tells us what signs the planets were in when we were born. This filter is one of the reasons why we feel astrological transits so keenly and why we resonate with certain signs and not others. Even if we can’t spell it out, our energy body knows when we are in friendly territory.

Vibrational healing operates on the assumption that every imbalance has an energetic imprint and that we can restore balance to the mind, body and emotions with an essence that matches the imbalance. So for example, an Aries man who feels overtaken by impatience during a crisis situation could reach for the Bach Flower Remedy aptly named Impatiens, or for a Red Jasper crystal, both of which will help him calm down and focus. The same concept would apply regardless, if his natal Sun, Moon, Ascendant or another major planet is in Aries.

"Do It Yourself" Remedies

There are crystals, essential oils and flower remedies for each Zodiac sign. We can use this to create grounding and centering survival kits based on our natal astrology charts. Based on my personal experience with energy healing and astrology, what works best is a survival kit with the vibration of your personal planets so that your bases are all covered, no matter what.

  • Option 1: Carry a pouch full of pebble-sized crystals with you to strengthen your Aura.
  • Option 2: Create your own Aura spray with the relevant Bach Flower Remedies.
  • Option 3: Meditate on the planetzodiac sign or element that affects you most.

Below you will find the vibrational correspondences for each of the Zodiac signs. We can only work with 5-6 elements at a time to avoid diluting the effect. I would suggest beginning with the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars and Rising Sign. If your ruling planet is not mentioned here, I would consider swapping it in – and we can use our pendulum to choose the right mix. If you have a lot of planets in one sign, that could also be a good place to start. On occassion, I have spent two months on one planet (say Jupiter). Flower Aura sprays might be easier than carrying crystals.

The following crystals and remedies are vibrational matches for the Zodiac:

Aries Crystals: Bloodstone, Red Jasper. Gentian Bach Flowers
Taurus Crystals: Rose Quartz, Lapis Lazuli. Oak Bach Flowers.
Gemini Crystals: Citrine, Agate Moss. Walnut Bach Flowers.
Cancer Crystals: Moon Stone, Smoky Quartz.  Larch Bach Flowers
Leo Crystals: Tigers Eye, Sunstone, Clear Quartz. Vine Bach Flowers
Virgo Crystals: Chrysocolla, Fluorite. Crab Apple Bach Flowers
Libra Crystals: Aventurine, Malachite. Centaury Bach Flowers
Scorpio Crystals: Garnet, Blue Beryl, Labradorite. Chicory Bach Flowers.
Sagittarius Crystals: Sodalite, Pietersite, Red Jasper. Wild Oat Bach Flowers.
Capricorn Crystals: Black Tourmaline, Jet, Obsidian. Rock Water Bach Flowers.
Aquarius Crystals: Aquamarine, Amethyst. Elm and Water Violet Bach Flowers,
Pisces Crystals: Sodalite, Rhodochrosite. Clematis Bach Flowers.

In order to create an Aura spray, we can place a few drops of each remedy in a bottle, fill it with running water and spray it in our Aura morning and night. The exact quantities can be found on the Bach Centre website. There are a number of correspondences available and the most famous is based on a book called the 12 Healers of the Zodiac. The correspondences mentioned here are based on my own energy healing work:
Flowers for Every Star Sign (here)

The crystal pouch is easier to assemble so long as we remember to cleanse and program new crystals so that they are dedicated to balancing our energy. Please follow the link to my Chakra Healing & Magick book for more on crystal remedies and energy healing.
