The Liberating Power of the Female Buddha (Book Review)

Last year I found a book called  TARA: the Liberating Power of the Female Buddha, by Dr Rachael Wooten.   The author is a depth psychologist and Tara devotee. It had been on my desk for months. Whenever I'd walk by I'd think to myself, I need to sit down and meditate. Green Tara has such a cool vibe but her energy felt distant somehow. I finally started reading it again this week after meeting up with a friend. She had been connecting with Tara too 😅 Tara is a powerful female Buddha - known as Wisdom Moon in her early incarnations. Wisdom Moon is said to have taken on the challenge of becoming enlightened. At the time, the common belief was that only men could become enlightened (haha). What it means to be enlightened is a separate topic, but if it includes clarity, compassion and having a bigger picture view of life - there is no reason why men and women couldn't both become enlightened.  The name Tara translates as Star. The idea is that the goddess Tara conn...

The Muse Tarot Deck: Are You Ready to Dive into the Unknown?

There is a tarot meme going around where your favorite tarot deck is the last one to make it into your collection, and while that may be true, the past year I discovered two decks that will remain favorites for many years to come: The Lightseer's Tarot  and The Muse Tarot , both by an artist called Chris Anne.  You may have heard of The Lightseer's Deck  - it was a big release in the tarot community. I love that it prompts us to work with shadow and light in healing ourselves, but the one that I have been drawn to most is  The Muse Tarot .  For one, I love that the suit of Pentacles is illustrated with flowers, an apt metaphor for prosperity filling us with love, beauty and with a solid community in the 10 of Pents, not just material things. We also need a bit of Fire (Sunlight) and Water for things to flourish, as discussed below! The past year or so I have been lucky to be surrounded by bugambilias in many shades of pink and orange. These flowers represent jo...

Your Sign Still Fits (Even When the Stars Move)

One of my Christmas presents last year was a book called Jung on Astrology - a collection of essays and letters from his family’s private collection. It was published by Safron Rossi and Keiron le Grice.  The book is wonderful, though it helps if you already know how to read a natal chart.  Great for energy healers, counselors, astrologers, and anyone who wants to go deeper with astrology and psychology ✨✨✨   One of the things I appreciated was Jung’s explanation of why natal charts can still be accurate, even though the Sun is no longer in the Sign of Aries every March. It would have been 2000 years ago, but the backdrop of stars moves gradually, coming full circle every 26 thousand years.  This is due to the Earth shifting on its axis and our view of the sky changing with it. This is known as the Precession of Equinoxes: historically, the position of the Sun and stars was mapped on four days each year: longest and shortest days (Solstices) and half-way points (Eq...

Ask the Angels: What is a Soul (Pre-Birth) Contract? ✨✨✨

I recently discovered a book called The Angel Bible , by Hazel Raven. It is lovely and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for an in-depth look at angels. It includes a meditation with Archangel Uriel, the GPS angel that helps us find our path and life purpose. The meditation guides us into our Soular (Soul Star)  Chakra where we unravel a scroll that tells us what our soul contract is - essentially, agreements made before coming to Earth.  In the meditation, I closed my eyes and pictured myself unraveling the scroll, much like a fortune cookie, only to find myself torching it instead.  The message was that we are free to do and be whatever we like (harming none) and to let go of the the belief that I couldn’t choose my future 👩🏻‍🎨  The next feeling was a gentle reminder that all belief systems are an attempt at explaining what we think is going on around us. It’s OK to take these theories and beliefs as tentative roadmaps, but not to take them as abso...

Vibrational Medicine by Dr Richard Gerber (Book Review)

People often ask if energy healing depends on the belief of the client - the placebo effect is real .  And while we   can  harness it by working through feelings and beliefs  that may undermine the healing process,   when I worked in  consumer  healthcare, research was  expected to outperform the placebo.   This is why I was happy to find a  book called  Vibrational Medicine,  by Dr Richard Gerber. It goes  through research done in labs and clinical settings. The book is a brick: 500 pages and almost too technical, but worth reading as an energy healer.   Below you will find highlights from Chapter 8 on Psychic Healing. Please note ,  Energy Healing is complementary to medical care, not alternative.   Dr. Gerber uses the term  'Psychic Healing'  throughout the book; however, in my own practice, I refer to these concepts as  'Energy Healing' based on my studies . Vibrational Medicine, by Richar...
