Raise your vibes with goddess energy (the hermetic books)

I love reading up on different themes and seeing how it all comes together; it’s not surprising as I majored in Philosophy (Tufts ‘02). That probably explains this blog 👀

Last year, I started reading the Hermetic books from the 2nd to 4th centuries, which are attributed to the greek Hermes Trismegistus. Believe it or not, the original set doesn’t mention the Kybalion (the 7 manifesting principles); those were channeled 1,500 years later. Instead, it’s a dissertation on the origins of the Universe, humanity’s place in it, and how we can practice meditation to connect with the divine. The first part looks at astrology; that was my favorite chapter. For the purpose of this blog, it tells us that when we meditate on the image of a god (or a goddess), that deity pulls us up, closer to his or her level.

The books read as a dialogue between Hermes and his teacher, in the style of the Greek philosophers that we read at school. Hermes is given that visualization, but we can all apply it. My gut feeling is that we can then vibrate in harmony with that goddess, radiating light out to earth in unison. Rather than ask for miracles and everyday goodies, let’s climb that ladder and manifest it for ourselves, as part of a dynamic duo. We always get what we give - let’s send love, joy and abundance to everyone.

Heal the world too 🌺🌺🌺

Kabbalistically, the world’s dysfunction and chaos end (in part) when we reclaim our feminine energy, raising it to the same level of importance as the masculine. It’s a ladder of awareness that we climb through meditation and grounding, and it takes us out of a mental framework where zero-sum games rule. Your Higher Self is halfway up that ladder. Intuition opens the door 👉🏻 Intuitive Meditations HERE.

Kabbalah speaks of 10 spheres of Light - the 3rd one down from the top is the divine feminine. The 10th, where we live and breathe, has a strong feminine energy energy that protects us - it’s a reflection of that third sphere. Both spheres are represented by the Hebrew letter Hei; meditating on or visualizing that letter is one way to bridge the gap, especially if you're not into goddess figures. I have an inkling that Mary Magdalene can also help us navigate the intermediate spheres. Those are spheres that we interact with on a daily basis through our mind and emotions.

>> Connect with Mary Magdalene to activate your Causal Chakra and Earth Star Chakra. These energy centers give us the grounding to stay firmly in this world, as we develop an intuitive connection with the realms that follow. The Causal Chakra was covered in my angel intuition classes. It’s one of the chakras that sits in the Aura.

I began connecting with Mary Magdalene this year after a trip to London when her image popped up everywhere. My intuition tells me that the balancing of masculine and feminine polarities has to happen in the same framework where we lost it, so that it takes root in the unconscious (especially for us women). Otherwise it’s like you have to leave home to feel valued and accepted. That points me to Catholicism & Mary.

Goddess figures are present in many cultures but their psychology and energy vibe shifts based on their concept. Choose the one that feels right for you. I don’t necessarily see Mary Magdalene as a goddess, but as a crossing guard and guide. Feminine energy rising 🌺

Can a Camel Get Through the Eye of a Needle???

There is a line in the New Testament where Jesus tells his followers that it’s easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich person to get into the Kingdom of Heaven. I grew up Catholic and this quote has been interpreted to tell people that having money somehow keeps you from getting into Heaven. And that not having $$$ gets you there quicker.

My view is that not having a dysfunctional ego will get us through the gates (or create heaven on earth), but that’s not the point of this post. Let’s focus on the camel.

I think that we missed the point, forgetting that Jesus was Jewish, and many of the examples he gave were rooted in his culture. Kabbalah is the mystical side of Judaism; I’ve been taking classes on and off since 2009, when I first moved to London. You’ll find all my Kabbalah posts here

In Kabbalistic lore, the eye of the needle represents the dark night of the soul. It’s represented by the Hebrew letter Kof; each of the Hebrew letters has a spiritual energy and meaning. That is half of the metaphor. The Camel is equipped to get through rough times. On a literal level, a real-life camel has enough water in its hump to survive travels in inhospitable desert environments. Metaphorically, water is empathy and emotional connection. On a Kabbalistic level, the letter G (the camel) represents spiritual strength and wealth of all kinds.

So based on this, I’d suggest that the camel is very well equipped to survive a dark night of the soul. Whereas money can pay for a lot of things (including therapy!), but money alone won’t get us through a dark night of the soul. We’d need a spiritual and emotional toolkit.

Without going into too much detail, Kabbalah provides us with a map for spiritual and psychological growth, a path to balancing that ego. The letter Kof crosses the veil that is known as the Void, where dark nights of the soul are said to occur in life. Emotional intelligence is needed there. Money may seem less relevant spiritually, but it’s always necessary physically. It gives us strength.

Emotional Strength & Compassion

I’ve written about the Kabbalistic Tree of Life before and how meditations can take us up and down those levels of awareness.

My teachers tell us to be cautious with our pursuits. As legend tells us, of four talented Kabbalists, one died, another lost his mind, the third became a heretic/disbeliever. Only the last Kabbalist thrived.

The one that survived did so because he leaned on the Element of Water. Have a look at this lecture from Spiritgrow:

I haven’t mentioned Kabbalah as much on my blog because it’s quite expansive - better suited for a book than for individual blog posts. But this aha moment helped me release limiting cultural programming.

Note 1 … For those of you who have seen the Tree of Life, Gimmel is on the path between the 3rd and 5th Sefirot. Kof is on the path between the 3rd and 4th. This is based on the paths by Rabbi Isaac Luria.

Note 2… The Bible passage starts with a question about whether any of us can be “good”, and continues with “if you want to be perfect, give away your belongings”. Thinking of ourselves as good/bad and wanting to be perfect are specific ego traps in kabbalah. Wanting to be perfect sends you back to square one. The “good bad analogy” is in the Youtube video 🐪

The Mechanics of Forgiveness

A lot has been written on forgiveness and why it is so important to let go of grievances; it’s one of the steps on the road to peace. But it is not the first step nor the most important. Think of a person who has been hurt or betrayed by a loved one, a close friend or by a terrible loss. How can one expect to forgive if one still feels hurt? Yesterday I sat and meditated in a beautiful church called Mary Star of the Sea, where I had the most amazing insights on this question...

The short answer: we can't forgive if we are still hurting. Based on my experiences with energy healing over the past ten years, the first step is to become aware of our emotional pain and let it be what it is. Accept the fact that you feel angry or hurt.

If this emotion is the result of an abusive relationship, please get help and find a safe way out - but if it stems from the past, give yourself time and space to let those feelings come to the surface so that you can heal them. Therapy works wonders, and we can also try energy healing at home!

Three Steps to Forgiveness:

1) Begin by grounding, clearing and shielding your personal energy before attuning to divine light. The steps can be found in both of my healing books. You'll find a simple angel meditation HERE

2) Once you are ready to start channeling the energy of love and compassion through your physical body and Aura, visualize the part of yourself that feels hurt. Let a soft white, violet or pink light stream through you, sending any excess healing energies into the ground. No pressure to heal quickly or to experience forgiveness - just give that part of yourself lots of love.

3) We then end the visualization by running gold light through our body and Aura, letting it fill all of the spaces that might have been cleared by the healing energy that we have just channeled. Always end by grounding and shielding your personal space (Aura).

This approach acknowledges that a part of your psyche may be in an emotional or energetic ICU. With care and self-healing, it will come through stronger and more resilient. When that part of yourself is ready to emerge, the bruises will have faded; And instead of forgiving rationally because the mind tells you that letting go brings peace, it will come about naturally.

Learn To Heal Yourself

Both of my books guide us through the process. If you are interested in forgiveness from a wellness point of view, I would suggest my first book, A Personal Guide to Self-Healing, Cancer & Love. It looks at energy healing as a complementary therapy for cancer patients though it is also useful in other situations.

The healing tools are meant to help us channel our emotions, including stress, making it useful for the whole family. It is based on my family's experience with cancer. Available below:

Chakra Healing & Magick

If you would like to try a creative approach to self healing, Chakra Healing & Magick is probably the best fit. Chapter 5 guides us through the energy healing steps required to balance and heal our chakras, or to send healing to specific themes in our lives. It also look at art-based healing techniques and crystal healing. My go-to stones for emotional peace and healing are rose quartz, rhodonite and lapis lazuli.

Please give yourself a chance to run the energy of love, compassion and forgiveness through your body. Even if we feel that we have nothing to let go of, memories will come to the surface, often from childhood and young adult years. It is often the little things that leave energetic imprints, but they fade away just as quickly when we finally decide to dust ourselves off.

The Jesus Mysteries by Tim Freke (Book Review)

SPOILER ALERT: Do NOT read this blog post if you are Christian or Catholic, as it undoes church teachings (even for moderates). Read it only if you are interested in Ancient Egypt.

Three years ago I watched a documentary on the first few centuries of Christianity. Among other things, it looked at a subset of pagan religions that were popular 2000 years ago and how Christianity absorbed them. There were several scholars discussing passages in the New Testament and how quite a few events in the account of Jesus' life were taken directly from these pagan 'mystery' religions.

I put off writing about this because it was almost traumatic. One of these events was Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a donkey on Palm Sunday. Another was the actual date of December 25th, when a pagan god known as Mithras was said to have been born. Historians place the likely birth of baby Jesus in the spring, as there is evidence of the census that was ordered at the time that Jesus was born. Another similarity is the visual of Jesus on the cross. The picture to the left is from a pagan relic of Osiris-Dionysus, of Egyptian or Greek origin. The cross is recognized all over the world, but the Gospels sometimes say Jesus was hung from a tree.

This documentary drew many parallels between Christianity and various pagan myths, especially the mystery religions in Ancient Egypt and the surrounding areas.

One of the speakers was a man called Timothy Freke, co-author of the most jarring book I have read: The Jesus Mysteries: Was the Original Jesus a Pagan God? In the book, Timothy Freke and Peter Gandy go through almost every scene in the New Testament, telling us what pagan religion it was taken from. There were 5 or 6 pagan myths with somewhat similar storylines, all part of a broader spiritual movement. The book is detailed, it is obvious that a huge amount of work went into writing it. But even for me, a lapsed Catholic, it was very depressing to read. If true, it would make me doubt everything I thought I knew and everything I’d been told growing up.

There was a bright side to the book or I wouldn't review it. The authors suggest that mystery religions were about establishing a direct connection with God through mystical means, using the story as a spiritual guide. The story itself was not to be taken literally, but even with mystery religions, people often did. Timothy Freke and Peter Gandy advocate viewing the Gospels symbolically and gleaning messages that help us grow spiritually and emotionally - much like Eckart Tolle's interpretations in A New Earth: Awakening To Your Life's Purpose.

It is worth reading, but I have to admit that I didn't enjoy the book at all. The tone is often antagonistic towards the Church and sensationalist. I may not be a practicing Catholic but I do value my upbringing and I still connect with Mary, Jesus and the saints in intuitive meditations. I was half-hoping none of the things in the book were true, so I set out to fact check it. That is when I stumbled across a paper written by Dr Martin Luther King Jr during his graduate school years, later published at Stanford: The Influence of Mystery Religions on Christianity {LINK}

Dr King's paper takes a much friendlier approach with Christianity. He mentions most of the parallels from Freke's book - thereby verifying the facts - without discrediting Christianity or making us feel like Santa Claus doesn't exist (multiplied by a million). In retrospect, there was nothing wrong the comparisons in Freke's book.

The Jesus Mysteries suggests that we view the Bible as symbolic, using it as a path to develop a personal connection with God - finding your Inner Christ. The Church chose the literal interpretation where Jesus dies and comes back to life, but if you major in History at a Jesuit university, you will learn about the ancient mystery religions and the massive crossover they had with Christianity. I asked a friend who studied at one in Mexico and she knew all about it.

Go figure.

On a personal note, the meditations that we use to connect with the archangels can be used to connect with other spiritual figures. When we activate our intuition, first we sense the angels, then teacher guides, and then the big guns, like Mother Mary. I am certain they exist and think there is more to Christianity than we know. At first, I was disappointed because it felt like I’d been lied to, but I don't think that is what happened. If the Gospels and the Bible can be viewed as a spiritual map, maybe we have been reading it upside-down ...

My guess is that Christianity incorporates both the Ancient Egyptian Mysteries and Kabbalistic elements, regarding the fall out of Eden. That map or pathway is, in my view, through the Tree of Knowledge, and that we were always meant to fall, so that we could go through the process of rebuilding with consciousness. My guess is that Jesus shows us (walks) the route, and that the Divine Feminine has our back.
These last paragraphs are my point of view. Christianity is one of many paths, not the only one. Maybe not the easiest. For me, Buddhist Tara practice may be more direct. All paths are valid.

Picture from a local Catholic Church. If you’ll see, Mary is standing on the serpent - in Kabbalah, the messiah and the serpent have the same root numbers (numerology) and from that, the same vibration. It’s the path down and up the Tree of Life. Mary can circle through it on her own, but she is waiting for us to catch up. Kabbalah speaks of a Divine Feminine that was banished below, and has to be reconnected with the above. My POV is she’s here by choice.

My intuition speaks in visuals; the feeling I had about this was that  “the kids want to go to the store for a treat, I’ll go with them - to be sure they make it there and back ok”.

Reiki hugs,

Regina
