I’ve  been going over key dates in my life and checking them against transits. A transit is when a planet moves through the zodiac and makes a connection with any of the placements in your natal chart, at an angle (say 60 or 90 degrees away), or crossing it directly. The direct transit is called a conjunction. It has a strong effect but whether it's easy or hard, to be confirmed. Uranus is the planet of change, disruption and it also happens to rule Aquarius, my Sun Sign. It has a slow orbit though, taking 84 years to go around the zodiac. There is a song that I love by the Mexican artist, Julieta Venegas, Me Voy (I’m leaving) because she walks away from a subpar relationship that she might deserve, but doesn't want.  It got me thinking about whether we get what we deserve - or what we reach for. And in many cases, where we get stuck. That's in terms of creating the life you want to experience. We need to think bigger.   We have been taught to focus on healing our self-worth, our boundaries, our insecurities and to revisit what we think we deserve in life and relationships. It is a start.  Believing that we don't deserve an experience - or that we are not ready - is an obstacle; it takes away from our personal initiative. It might keep us from trying, but releasing the belief might not be enough to change things. There is a line in the New Testament where Jesus tells his followers that it’s easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich person to get into the Kingdom of Heaven. I grew up Catholic and this quote has been interpreted to tell people that having money somehow keeps you from getting into Heaven. And that not having $$$ gets you there quicker.  My view is that not having a dysfunctional ego will get us through the pearly gates (or create heaven on earth), but that’s not the point of this post. Let’s focus on the camel.  I had an aha moment recently. To start, I think that we missed the point, forgetting that Jesus was Jewish, and many of the examples he gave were rooted in his culture. It dawned on me today that the ego can only exist in relation to something else, it doesn’t stand on its own legs.  It also has to be seen, which isn’t bad; we all need to be seen, cherished  and loved. The ego gives us strength, so that we can shine brightly and happily .   But wouldn’t it be cool if your true self or your Higher Self shone through instead? Your Higher Self is the part of you that hasn’t been put through conditioning. So instead of comparing yourself with others and having that be the reference point for the ego, align your ego with your Higher Self and all of its joy, light and potential.  This shift can be done on both feeling and mental levels. The belief that we can be more or less than the person next door is where the ego dysfunction starts. It needs comparison to exist, a point of reference.
