Week 1: A Course in Miracles

It's hard to tell you about A Course in Miracles when I'm barely on Day 7 of 365, but I feel like I have to write about it to understand it. So first of all, what is this mirac le class? It's a brick of a book, a self-study program where you read a single passage everyday and gradually retrain your mind to view the world in a more forgiving light. My classmate Ken, is how I discovered the course (his channel has since gone offline).  A Course in M iracles lasts one year, and I'll post a summary just this month , with my ta ke on the concepts. P le ase read the original text here. Each entry has a headline, a long explanation and homework to go with it . I'll paraphrase the headlines to reflect my understanding of the lesson;  share your thoughts below!  Introducing A Course in Miracles! A unique, universal, self-study spiritual thought system that teaches that the way to Love and Inner Peace is through Forgiveness * Day 1: ...

Finding my Balance with Yoga

There's a new yoga studio around the block from where I live. Actually, it's been there for almost a year. The last time I went to yoga was in 2008. Bikram Yoga, the hot sauna-style yoga where everyone is very flexible but not relaxed. It's hard to keep your cool (pardon the pun) when you are trying not to faint. I went three times a week for three months and quit when my membership ran out. Since then I've been doing little yoga and lots of other things at the gym. This week I finally went back and OH MY GOSH - it was a crazy work out! I signed up for the easiest Hatha-Vinyasa class on the schedule and I could barely keep up.  What is Hatha-Vinyasa Yoga?  A blend of:  Hatha refers to "a set of physical exercises (known as asanas or postures), and sequences of asanas, designed to align your skin, muscles, and bones."  Vinyasa  is a "a method of yoga in which movements form a flowing sequence in coordination with breath" ... kind o...

A Series of Updates

It's time for a quick update, as times they are a changing...  The past year and a half I have had the pleasure (and challenge) of hosting a weekly radio show with A1R Psychic Radio. It's something that I never thought I'd do, and I was surprised to find myself enjoying it. Each week the show began with a brief talk on healing, intuition or angels - whatever I was interested in that week - and then the fun would begin! Taking questions from callers was great fun, and I turned to my favourite angel cards for answers. Then eventually to my Rider Waite Tarot deck. It was great experience, but eventually I started to feel like my time and energy were split amongst too many projects: blogging, writing another book, writing for an online magazine, prepping the radio show, wanting to teach groups in person and also doing healings. Running my Facebook Page  is also a biggie!   A couple months I started thinking about where I could cut back...

PLUG & PLANT: The Smart Vertical Garden

Last year I shared a fantastic TedX Talk by Fernando Ortiz of VertialGreen . Fernando starts his talk by googling "Paradise" to show us what comes up:  pristine nature scenes. It's mindboggling to think that we had paradise and then  developed  it  away. This fan t astic company is dedicated to bringing nature back into our lives and making us more consci ous o f how vital nature is to our survival . Unfortunately this project didn't meet the Kidckstarter goa l, but you can the visionaries here : www.verdevertical.com.mx/eng/index.html !  PLUG & PLANT: The Smart Vertical Garden - Allows anyone to grow plants anywhere; it’s the easiest way to integrate nature into your everyday life .  Allows Users To Plug In 12+ Plants, Water Once A Month, and Watch It Grow.  New York, New York September 9, 2015. 11 Ways to Bring More Joy into Your Life

There are Oracle Decks that I use for readings, and others that I turn to for inspiration and healing. Stewart Pearce’s beautiful  Angels of Atlantis deck falls into the second category. The messages are inspired by Archangels like Michael, Gabriel, Raphael and Uriel - who I know from psychic school. Each card has a bright orb for us to meditate on, and broad themes involve feelings like joy, healing, peace, and abundance. I like to use these cards as meditative prompts and this Tuesday, they were also the source of inspiration for my radio show. I wasn’t sure what to talk about and I pulled a card for inspiration: Joy.  The result was a list of ten simple things that we can all do to bring more joy into our lives. Joy is said to be the purest and highest emotion, for some, even higher than the energy of love.  Here are eleven simple ways to bring joy into your life: Spend Time with People you Love:  What else is there? The rest of the tips help us refocus ...

Understanding the Difficult Tarot Cards

Every now and then I'll read cards informally for a friend (if my tarot deck isn't in my bag, I also happen to have the iPhone app). They are usually quick to ask a question, with the caveat: "But don't tell me if you see anything bad in the cards!"  Thankfully I've never been the bearer of bad news and more often than not, the cards talk about blind spots we have at the moment. Is there anything missing from your approach or assumptions? How can we change our behavior to find ourselves in happier circumstances.  For example, one of the most common questions is "when will I get a boyfriend" or "when will my finances improve" and rather than give a date, the cards might tell you to work on your self-love first, or be more mindful of expenses. If a new job is on the horizon, we can also get a glimpse of that, though I always ask what you can do to make the most of the opportunity. Being ready and prepared makes a h...
