Giving & Receiving with Grace

One of the things that strikes me about the Holiday Season is how we all spend it in different ways. For some, it is still a religious holiday, though more and more it has become an occasion for gift giving and connecting with family. Though some may lament what appears to be an increasingly commercial spin on a religious day, giving and receiving gifts teaches us an important lesson.

On a physical level, everything we do consumes some of our personal energy. This includes eating, thinking, working, and even taking time to help others. It's important to to rest and recharge your batteries, especially if you are generous with your time and energy.

Helping others also uses up our energy, and many healers do this at their expense. This is when fatigue sets in and we become susceptible to cold and flu bugs (for example). If the energy leak is prolonged we may be stopped in our tracks by an illness; this is how our body often asks for rest and self-care. By learning to give, receive and rest (giving to ourselves) we look after our physical health.

On a material level we attract abundance into our life by sharing. When you give with joy and with the knowledge that there is a lot more where that came from, you send a message to the universe that allows you to receive more. The size or price of the gift doesn't matter, what matters is giving without feeling any stinginess or pain (at spending too much). I was one of the stingy ones.. but those feelings tell the Universe that we don't have enough, and that message is reflected back to us with a reduced flow of financial and material blessings. We can give our time, attention and love as well as material gifts. So when you give this holiday season, give with joy, and receive with joy and appreciation.

Appreciating all kinds of gifts opens us up to receive even more good in our lives. Receiving with grace tells the Universe that we will welcome its gifts gladly. We also grow by celebrating the blessings in other people's lives.

Intuitive Healing Cards? Yes please!

I use oracle cards all the time for readings, usually the Angel Tarot deck. The messages I receive won't always relate to the description on the card; they are triggered by a visual cue that takes me somewhere else. By now I've probably given hundreds of readings on Facebook over the past few years.

Yesterday I had an idea, what if I took the "healing element" in those readings and translated them into my very own intuitive healing deck? I might just start with a pack of blank index cards, write the message on one side and draw stick figures on the other. Pictograms are the best I can do, but the image will be clear in my mind.

Down the road, I will find someone to illustrate the cards, but for now it will be good to use them myself and experiment with the images, concepts, etc. So that's on the horizon! I could also share them on here and on Facebook if they are pretty. I'll start with one or two images each week and take it from there. =)

I also pulled a card for myself to get a bit more insight on this idea. The image that came up referenced wisdom; it tells me that I'll be able to access my soul's wisdom by creating these. Inspiration comes when we're being creative and this may be the step that I have to take now.
