Can Deepak Chopra Save the Economy?

Deepak Chopra  launched a series of guided meditations focused on abundance. Its nicely called the 21 Day Meditation Challenge. There's a well known psychology theory about how long it takes to establish a habit in our minds. If you do the same thing everyday for 21 days running, the pathways in your brain are rearranged to make this recurring activity a habit. In the current economic climate, this series of meditations will be very helpful for thousands of people. It's particularly relevant for me as I start my healing and writing business. Kudos to Deepak for taking steps to shift the collective unconscious in a positive direction. Barack Obama, David Cameron and the rest of our global leaders could thank Deepak for pitching in on this one. =)

I’m a philosophy major, not an economist, but economic theory tell us that the wealth of a nation expands and contracts over time. Economists track the Gross Domestic Product which is the sum total of all the wealth that's been generated by the private sector. On another level, the stock market reflects people's expectations about the future. It rises when the financial world is optimistic, peaks it gets carried away and falls when the bubble bursts. The past five years have seen all three stages. Our political and financial leaders have a big job to do. They need to bring people back to a state of realistic optimism. Otherwise, consumers pull back on spending because they worry about financial problems in the future, which leads them to believe they need to stock up on cash. This limits the flow of money in the economy. It's a vicious cycle, because cautious consumers generate fewer business transactions. Companies find it harder to turn a profit, which may lead to cuts across the board.

Though many people are having a tough time now (or are worried about having at tough time in the future), there is still plenty of potential to create abundance and wealth. Just look at Apple, who has seen record growth over the past couple of years. They sell gadgets at a premium price, despite the fact that we managed to do without them for years. And people love them - heck I love my MacBook Air and my iPod. What sets Apple apart is the inspiration and the purpose behind their products. Steve Jobs may not have been the nicest person, if you read his biography, but he had a clear vision and it paid off. I'm guessing he had overactive brow and solar plexus chakras. The brow is linked to clairvoyant vision, and the solar plexus moderates our levels of aggression towards others. These two chakras are energetically linked, and when I read his biography these qualities stood out. We don't need to go to Steve's extremes, but we can still be successful. A shift in consciousness will put us on his side of the fence.

Good job Deepak! =)

I'm running 10 days late with Deepak's meditations. Listened to Day 3 this morning. Before you tell me off for being a slacker, my internet's been down! What a coincidence though - The mantra today was: Today, I focus on what I want to attract into my life.  I've spent all week drawing my vision board, and this series of meditations will help me bring it to life. The next 3 weeks I'll do one meditation every day. When I'm inspired I'll write about it too. I'll try to keep my commentary brief, so that I can carry on writing about my angel readings, healings and other stuff. This has turned out to be a busy month, with 21 Days of Meditation thanks to Deepak, and 21 Days of Angel Channeling on my Facebook page! Sometimes it's entertaining to have a lot going on.

Thank you for reading!

How to Manifest with a Vision Board - Part 3

This is the 3rd in a series on Vision Boards: Read Part 1 HERE

So we're back for the finale! In my last post I described the 1st half of my vision board, which includes a healthy energy body, well developed intuition and my 1st book (soon to be published!). The last thing I described was a neat little Reiki Symbol, which somehow morphed into a bicycle. I suppose the question is, where does Reiki fit in this image?

I somehow found myself drawing a picture of this blog, underneath the bicycle. There is a picture of me on the landing page. It may have been an Author Biography. The page stats on the left read 500K Page Views, and the Facebook buttons have lots of marks. I’ve also drawn a published copy of my 1st book, an Energy Healing guide for cancer patients called Healing Cancer with Love. The cover is pale blue, with a big red heart on the cover and a sun shining out of the corner. The sketch makes it seem as if I'm releasing it, sending it out into the world. The book leaves a misty blue trail as it goes, with little red hearts and gold coins. The hearts represent healing for the readers, and the gold coins are for abundance. The coins may indicate a low price: a couple pounds. Maybe this can help me share it with as many people as possible.

Up to here, we're half way through the vision board. Next to the book I dropped in a newspaper.  The cover reads New York Times bestseller. To the right of this newspaper, I drew a certificate for energy healing. Interestingly enough, I'm sitting for the energy healing accreditation in May. Could this mean a best-seller is waiting for me, in the next six months? The images just popped into my mind as I went along, and I was pleased to see the layout when it was finally over and done with. Lots of potential this year!

The bottom right hand corner of my vision board has a nice little collage. I drew a pink swish for Isis, goddess of love, healing and magic. You might also see Merlin in a purple coat, holding cards, crystals and a pendulum. I also drew a brown hat that belongs to my spirit guide. Below the pink swish I drew a pair of brown sandals, leaving a trail of steps for me to follow. These images are punctuated by a pair of musical notes. Finally, I drew something that looks like a wedding cake. I'm not really a bride though, as I'm wearing a purple dress. There's also a puppy next to the couple. =)

Here is the drawing of the vision board! I hope that teaching by example worked, in this case. I started out with an idea of what I wanted to include, but now exactly how. My imagination filled in the blanks, and I was left with a board that includes all my wishes!

How to Manifest with a Vision Board - Part 2

Six years ago I drew a vision board and just about everything on it has come true. You can read about it in Part 1 by clicking on the link mentioned above. This has been a huge blessing. Since then I've evolved and have managed to outgrow my vision board. Last night I sat down to create a new one. It's always a fun experience, sitting down with a pile of colored pencils and a sheet of paper. Most of the things I've drawn are reminders of the abundance and potential around me. Some of the things I've drawn are just a swish of color, for example a blue haze to signify Archangel Michael. Others I've drawn in detail. I'm not a cartoonist, so I'd like to describe it before posting the picture. What matters is how I see it in my mind, that is what the universe will mirror back at me.

The vision board follows a chronological order, starting with myself on the left. The right hand side of the page depicts images that will take longer manifesting. I'll describe it from left to write, which might make the story easier to follow. The 1st image is a colourful stick figure. This is me! I've drawn a big smile on my face, and arms that reach out to accept everything on the vision board. I've also illustrated my chakras, not as they are now but as I want them to be. For example, in the picture I am grounded. I have well rounded root, sacral and solar plexus chakras. The sacral chakra emanates orange energy, for abundance. My heart chakra is buzzing, and my throat, brow and crown chakras are clear. I’ve drawn a movie screen in front of my brow chakra. This represents clairvoyance. There is a clear channel between my crown, brow, throat and heart chakra. Finally there are four swishes of color over the back of my crown chakra, each for a different Archangel:

-       Dark Blue for Michael = Protection and Courage
-       Gold and Green for Raphael = Healing
-       Pale Blue for Uriel = Clarity and Direction
-       Green for Gabrielle = Communication

There is a little surprise at my feet: an old fashioned pen, in a pot of purple ink. It represents writing, intuition and spirituality. The proximity also indicates that its at my disposal now. Amazing! =)

To the right of the purple pen, you’ll see a funny looking bicycle. Both of the Wheels are made of Reiki Symbols. I wanted to include a symbol for healing, and this was the only one I could recall. At some point I made this into a bicycle, though I'm not sure how it happend. I took this to mean that I am to jump on the Reiki bandwagon. It will take me places. The bicycle flies up a blue ramp towards the right. That ramp ends with the words Buzz Light Year (To Infinity and Beyond!). This gives me a solid boost, and it ends in a very interesting place! We'll come onto that tomorrow, when I describe the 2nd half of the vision board. You'll also get a sneak peak at my dazzling creation.

How to Manifest with a Vision Board - Part 1!

Six years ago I was working for an off-the-wall manager at PepsiCo. He was good at his job, though much less formal than the other marketing managers. Since then he’s moved onto international postings, including a gig in New York, which is always the Holy Grail in multinationals.  The thing I’ll never forget is how he “made” our team sit down to watch The Secret. It was a work assignment geared towards our personal lives. He really believed in the power of visualization, and told us to draw a vision board for our life. Tell the Universe what you want from life!

I took his advice and drew rough pencil sketches of myself living in London. In one of these sketches, a black haired girl who resembled me walked past Big Ben on her way to work. In another, she was giving a presentation in a corporate boardroom. For a month I glanced at the vision board every day, and then I forgot about it. The intention was set. Two years later I found myself traveling through London, when a friend mentioned a visa for highly skilled migrants. My MBA and my work experience might qualify. He was right! I got the visa and moved to London. Risky, but then I just wanted to leave home and try something different.

This was in April 2009, just a couple months after the stock market started crashing. It may not have been the best time to move to London, but somehow it worked out.  I found a European Marketing job that would benefit from Spanish and French language. My French isn’t as great as it used to be (ça fait quelque temps que je ne parle pas). My Spanish is good, though I discovered the team in Madrid spoke a different kind of Spanish than the one we speak in Mexico. It made for a few laughs, especially when I wrote slogans in Spanish and then had to have them translated into their Spanish. LOL

Sometimes I remember the vision boards and smile. It came true, which is pretty amazing. But since then I’ve outgrown that vision board, and it's time for  a new one. One of my Facebook friends updated her status today, saying it was a New Moon. Great time to draw vision boards and set intentions. I’ve spent the past hour drawing a new vision board for myself. I’ll post it tomorrow.  Thinking I’ll give the vision board a booster by sharing it online!

Group Healing Night at London Spiritual Movement

I tried something new yesterday! The London Spiritual Movement organizes Group Healings and Socials every month. Last night I went to one of their events as a healing volunteer. The night was organized to support a local children's charity called Kids Company that "works with 17,000 vulnerable children in London, empowering those who have had enormous emotional challenges to lead positive and fulfilling lives." The evening started with a talk from a Kids Company representative, told us about a girl who lived on the streets throughout her teenage years, until they helped her reintegrate into society. The healing socials always run on a donation basis, and yesterday the proceeds went to Kids Company.

The actual healing session was a lot of fun to be a part of. There must have been about 60 people there to receive healing. They sat in the center of the room, in a long line of chairs that were laid out in spiral formation. The meeting organizer led us through an opening meditation, and then each of the healers made their way to a Healee. Each person get's a few minutes of healing. As a healer you go from one person to the next, without talking to them or saying much. There's not much room, so I would place my hands on their shoulders and work from there. If there was a little bit of room to move, I'd give healing to the heart, throat, brow or crown chakra (so upper body and head). Sometimes it was easy to kneel behind them and ground from the hips - without touching. Otherwise I'd ground them from the shoulders, and then place them in a bubble of protective light before moving on to the next person.

Overall I enjoyed the evening. They played calming music with Indian chants in the background. The ceiling lights had a purple and white universe floating around the room. The ambience was cool, though the energy was a bit too much when I started out. After the opening meditation I started feeling awkward clutter in my upper body and on my left side. I think it was all of the energetic gunk from people around me. I drew my aura around me, and that helped. When you're aura's expanded it's easier to pick up on other people's energetic debris. Keeping my aura close and protected helped, and then I was able to get through the evening without a hitch. I think I'll go back in 2 weeks for the next event.

How Do Angels Help Us?

The past couple of days I have had a lot of great ideas for posts! A number of Facebook friends have asked questions about guardian angels: who they are, how angels can help, and if angels really do intervene on our behalf. Rather than answer on Facebook, I'm going to write a series of posts on angelic guidance and help. I'm still working through some of the ideas. Here is a sneak preview:
  • Do guardian angels fall asleep on the job? Otherwise, why do bad things happen to good people? I have a few thoughts on this, though I don't pretend to have all the answers. As a matter of fact, please share your thoughts and I'll debate it in the post.
  • How can we make our guardian angel's job easier? How would one go about asking for help. Also pitfalls to avoid, as its relatively easy to ask them for help and then refuse it.
  • Can we enlist the angels as project managers in our daily life?  I could be so much more productive if I split my To Do list in half, and let the angels take care of a good chunk.  =)
Angels can be very helpful when it comes to guidance, protection and taking a load of our shoulders. We need to ask for help, and work with the angels to make it come about. It's about teamwork.

UPDATE! I recently published an article with OM Times Magazine: 7 Ways to Make your Guardian Angel's Job Easier!
