Feeling Energy Currents

Today I carried out an impromptu healing on a friend. I  haven't done many over the summer holiday. It was really cool because I still remember the things we learned the last school year though I did draw a  blank balancing chakra pairs, what chakra was the solar plexus paired with? LOL! I will have to check my notes before we go back to class in two weeks!

The teachers pay attention to make sure we're doing things properly. And it is easy to forget some of the technical details, especially if we're expected to do things in a particular order. At home it doesn't matter as much, what I work on in my case studies is the intuitive side and just learning to read and channel energy. All in all it was a good session though, I'm excited to get back into the swing of things!

I've never had a session that goes the way I expected it to. This one was a surprise because I found myself feeling the energy currents in her body, rather than seeing them clairvoyantly.  It happened when I was checking the flow of energy in her healing meridian. We learned about this current of energy in my last class, it runs up your right leg to your shoulder, crosses the clavicle to the left shoulder and then goes down again. I've only worked with it a few times so far, I've always seen it as a wire of white light that runs through the clients body. In the past, I would notice dark patches where the light was off, and instead I got a brown wire. We are supposed to look for these spots, tune into them and ask what it's about.

Sometimes that dark patch will correspond to an organ that needs healing, and the lack of energy is a signal for the healer to stop and listen. In the past I've noticed tiny breaks at the throat, a faded patch down the left abdomen, or even in the legs. Today I couldn't actually see the light, instead I found myself shooting energy up my client's right leg and following it clairsentiently as it made it's way up, across and then down her body. It was almost like a fountain or a straw, and I was using my force to propel it. I then noticed that the energy slowed down a little bit on the left side of her ribcage and walked over to tune in. Her pancreas was full of energy and I gave it healing before going back to the meridian and reestablishing the flow of energy.

It only now dawned on me that I felt the energy in a different way, and very much used my intent to channel a stream of energy through the meridian. It was pretty cool, the "feeling" energy was very light and watery so I'm guessing it should also be refreshing for the client. All in all a very good day!  =)

Back to School

Summer is almost over! And I'm actually excited to go back to school in September. Don't get me wrong, working full-time and then running off to psychic development on evenings, healing on weekends and case studies in between can be a real drag sometimes. But it's fun and at the end of the day I really look forward to all of the new things we get to experience every term. Experience really is the right word for it, it's not so much that we learn things. They happen to us during our case studies, in our homework and sometimes in class.  We have lots to cover so I'll be writing lot's of exciting posts this year. There are a couple topics that I'm really looking forward to, here's a taster of what you can expect.

More Angel and Guide Healing! Now that I'm getting better at the meditations, the clairvoyance is really starting to kick in and I'm aware of the helping hands during a healing session. Sometimes I kick back and just watch, they do a great job of guiding me and showing the little things that we need to watch out for during a healing.  I will do my best to go into the fun stuff in more detail, but covering enough of the basics so that you can incorporate some of my little experiments into your own healing practice.

Ancestral Healing: Did you know that we take on stuff from our parents, grand parents and even great grandparents?!? I'm really looking forward to this one, my guess is that we'll look things like kidney disease that might be passed down, but also behavioral patterns that we find going down the family tree. Why do some families fall into recurring cycles with an alcoholic in the family, and then other might have a long line of overachieving Type A personalities? Or overbearing mothers? LOL

Sound and Color HealingWhat I've read is that each of our chakras resonates with a specific color and with a tone on the "Do-Re-Mi" scale. So say, when I wanted to open up my sacral I went and bought a body wash with an orange peel fragrance.  If I want to activate my throat chakra I'll search sound meditations on Youtube and I'll also wear lot's of sky blue. So far I've been playing around with it, one of these I'll have to try my hand at Aura Soma as well! =)

Spirit Release: To be honest, I don't know how I feel about this being on the curriculum.

Cord Cutting: Really looking forward to cutting cords and to learning defense against psychic attack. Not that I have much use for the 2nd one, but we do all have cords to cut and I've had success with them so far! So it will be fun to continue down this Defense Against the Dark Arts road. It's not at the forefront of my mind, but if I'm going to open up to the world of energy it's good to learn to take care of yourself.

At one point we're going to go into some of the heavier  conditions, working with cancer patients,  AIDS patients and the theory behind drug addiction. Not sure that I'll go so far as addicts, but I will gladly help the world quit smoking one Marlboro at a time. Maybe I can launch my own brand of Geena Healing to compete with Nicorette! At the end of the day it's a Sacral Chakra addiction, I figure you can blast them with a good dose of harmonizing energy and a strong dose of peace. We'll see how it goes, hope you're as excited as I am about my 2nd and Final Year at the School of Intuition and Healing!

Memories of an Eternal Soul

As a kid I loved reading. My parents used to tease me because I was the only twelve year old who asked for books on her birthday. Books and the occasional french dictionary. Don't ask. By the time college came around I had lots to read for school and less time to read for pleasure. With the exception of the Harry Potter and Twilight books I haven't been really hooked on any series the past 10 years. Quite a literary drop, if you consider that Dickens was my favorite during my teens.

The thing that wrapped me up so much in these magical books was the world they created. I am not a fan of vampires, in the brooding, blood sucking sense of the word. But what struck me in the last book witch-vampire saga was the description of a vampires many lives, particularly how they fake their death and then take new identities so that they can start over. And then, because they live for hundreds or even thousands of years, vampires evolve with the thinking and "humanity" of the time. This last book shows us how a vampire's sense of right and wrong evolves over  "lifetimes." In this novel - A Discovery of Witches - the leading vampire tells his human girlfriend that he wouldn't trust the 500 year old version of himself with her.  Maybe back then he wasn't a vegetarian! Vampires also have long lists of ex-girlfriends, wives, dramas, excitement, etc. Talk about emotional baggage!

This got me thinking about the similarity between a vampire's many identities and our own soul path. If you believe in reincarnation, it is entirely possible that we've had as many past lives as these fictional vampires. The only difference is that we are only aware of our current incarnation. Our eternal soul is a blessing, and it helps us out by giving us a clean slate every time we start over. This train of thought was really random, just got me thinking that we've all done things we aren't proud of in this lifetime, we're lucky not to have to answer for all of the things we did in other lifetimes (though I suppose on some level, karma is a #$%@).

My Take on Telepathy

We've all had moments when we know what someone else is thinking. The stereotypical example is the phone rings, and you already know who is on the other end. Or something funny happens on the street, and you anticipate your boyfriend's comment before he makes it. These things happen when we are very close to someone, we know them inside out and are also on the same wavelength. But are we really hearing their thoughts? I don't think so.

So today I asked me guides what we can do, if anything, to improve our psychic communication. Imagine how cool it would be to tell someone to pass you the salt without actually having to open your mouth, point, or look in the direction of the salt shaker. If I can hear my spirit guides and they can hear me, there has to be a way for other humans to hear me as well. This got me thinking - how do I communicate with my guides? Sometimes I write to them, sometimes I will run through a list of questions through my mind, and if I'm alone I might ask out loud - but I don't recommend this one.

The key thing, is that when I sit down to have a conversation with my guides I always open up, and I project me thoughts and feelings out in their direction. Then I wait for them to answer. At first I got images, a sort of collage that I would interpret to get the answer. This type of message comes through the brow chakra, which is traditionally associated with telepathy and mental communication. Then at one point the messages started coming as sound, and sound is not linked to the brow chakra.

We hear and speak through our throat chakras, this is the energy center that governs our inner ear as well as our vocal chords and throat. These organs are linked, and I supposed that is why you will typically find doctors that specialize in both. On an energetic level our throat chakra has to open up before we start hearing sounds in our meditations, it can be music, words, or a full blown conversation. In my experience the voice comes from inside me, and that is because we only hear it after it is received and interpreted by our throat chakra. Is this telepathy or is it something else?

So back to my question, how can we work on our psychic speech and hearing?

Meditation: Focus on your throat chakra and let it play music for you, it can be anything you like but get your mind used to the idea that the sound is actually being heard in your throat. This will increase the vibration of your throat chakra, and it will help it open up slowly.

Project: The next step is to project your voice from your throat chakra, without opening your mouth or using your vocal chords. I'm not sure how to explain this, the important thing is keep your energetic awareness on your throat chakra while you read along. Use your inner voice and listen to it.

It takes practice, but you can use this technique to talk to your angels and guides. If you have a friend or loved one who is into this type of thing as well it would be fun to test it out and see what happens. Overall, this will be a less intrusive form of communication. If someone used a chord to project their thoughts into my head I would be very pissed off.  Hearing their voice through my throat chakra is a lot closer to what we already do, and would not be such a huge adjustment.

What do you think of this one?

Healing with a Pendulum

A couple weeks ago I heard one of our teachers talking about pendulums. She mentioned that they can be used to find and cut chords, and that the pendulum can also balance the chakras. The past month I have been doing a lot of self healing, and one day the pendulum conversation flashed through my mind. I have a beautiful chakra pendulum, and thought, why not use this on myself? The point is carnelian, which fits well with my sacral chakra that needed healing, and the silver chain has rainbow stones to resonate with each of the 7 chakras.

Start by Minding the GAPP:

First I Ground by visualising roots, they go out the bottoms of my feet to the center of the earth. Next I Attune by connecting to the highest source of light. I visualize a beam of light that comes down from heaven, runs through me and into the earth. This beam of light connects me to the Source, God, Spirit, etc. Next, I ask for Permission to carry out the healing. The last step is to ask for Protection, I will do this by visualizing a bigger beam of white light around me, it cuts through from floor to ceiling and extends outwards in both directions - to the center of the earth and up to the Source. Sometimes I see a ring of fire, but white light is a safe and effective bet.

When people ask me how I know what I'm connecting to, this is how I know. If I tried to use any of my psychic abilities without Mind the GAPP I might connect to something or someone that isn't really looking out for me.  It would be about as unsafe as letting a stranger hitch ride at night ...

Now Back to the Pendulum Healing!

I started out by defining a healing vocabulary for the pendulum. A balanced chakra would have a clockwise swing over it, an unbalanced chakra has a counter clockwise swing. The pendulum would continue to swing in a counter clockwise direction as long as the healing energy was being channeled, and it would change when it was done. I lay down on my yoga mat and started at the crown. Using a pendulum on yourself can be tricky, especially on the crown and brow as your perspective is inverted. It took me a while to figure out which direction it was spinning. My upper chakras were clear enough so the crown, brow, throat and heart took just a little bit of effort. It was really pretty too,  the crystals glitter in the light when they're spinning and it's beautiful to watch.

The big surprises came when I got to my sacral chakra - most of my aches and pains are in the part of my body that is governed by the sacral. I used to get PMS, lower back pain and bloating when I am stressed out, especially at that time of the month. The past couple years I have been a frequent flier in the Midol camp, so it was no surprise that the pendulum made huge circles over this chakra.

The bigger the swing, the stronger the healing. The root [base] chakra did the same thing, coincidentally one of my teachers told me that I had to work on my root. If you have any health issues, you should always focus on establishing the flow between the chakra that governs the affected organ and the root chakra.  The root links to the symptoms that manifest on a physical level, it's responsible for our etheric template. So if you need to work on your liver, one of the things you can do is to establish the flow between your root chakra and your solar plexus.  The good news is I made it through the month without taking Midol as much, only on the first day!

This nice success story has gotten me a new practice client for the Fall Term assignments!

So there is one more thing that I forgot to mention. The pendulum will also correct the flow of energy between the chakras.  At one point it would switch between a counter clockwise spin, and a vertical spin that went up and down my spinal colum. When it did this, I could feel energy swinging out in both directions - say from the sacral to the solar plexus, and then again from the sacral to the root. It was really fun to watch, because looking at what the pendulum does will give you an idea of the energy shifts in the body.  The healee will feel the tingles, and the healer can see it happen. I've practiced with the pendulum a couple times now, when it does something new I always ask what it means. The answer comes through clair-knowing or even clairaudience. This gives an understanding of what is going on, and that constant flow of information is useful.

Watching the pendulum also helps me understand my role as a channel, there is definately a higher power that is sending the energy my way. There is something about watching it swing, without any input or direction from me. It makes me feel like a fly on the wall,  someone else is healing. Don't get me wrong, all the while I am very much in the GAPP, still attuned, but my attitude is that of a student asking questions. It's an opportunity to learn. Most healing sessions come with little surprises that show me new techniques or meanings. The pendulum is a fun one to try out. It has also taught me that I need to take more time with each of the individual chakras.  If I'm doing the healing by myself,  I usually zip through them pretty quickly. When I am waiting for the pendulum to change directions I get bored and tired and want to move on, but it's really about the client and how much healing they need. The sessions haven't lasted more than 30 minutes, which is pretty decent but if I ever do this professionally I need to be able to heal for an hour. Or an hour minus 10 minutes for the basic chat.

Psychic Development Simplified

A few months ago I stumbled upon a blog called A State of Mind –  for those of you who aren't familiar with it, it is full of articles on how to develop your psychic gifts. The author, Nathaniel, has been on the path for 5 years, and writes about what worked for him in minute detail. Now he’s published a book called Psychic Development Simplified, covering everything under the sun in just enough depth to give the reader a psychic taster and a solid foundation in energy management. It's a great place to start if you're a beginner, and there are a also a few surprises for those of us who have been exploring this for a little bit longer.

This is a summary of what you can expect from the book:

  • Psychic Development Simplified operates on the understanding that it takes at least a year of diligent energy work and meditation before you can open up safely to more advanced techniques. The book lays out a series of exercises that will give you a good grasp of energy management before you start trying things like psychic readings, telekinesis or mediumship. I for one turned straight to the chapter on telekinesis, only to find that I couldn’t get my psi-wheel to spin. Need to start at the bottom and work my way up, and moving things is a lot of work!

  • The book approaches meditation from a mindlessness angle. Most of my meditations so far have been focused on chakras, this one poses a real challenge by telling us to empty our mind and stare at the wall (or a candle) for 30 minutes. And then he tells you that it’s OK to fail, the point is to let all of these thoughts clutter our mind so that we can observe them, and in observing them detach ourselves from this constant mental chatter. It helps the reader along the path with a series of ABC’s. It also talks about prayer, protection and a few techniques to tone down your excess energy before you start meditating.

  • There is a nifty exercise called Tactile Visualization -  What this allows you to do is recall sensations like the touch velvet, a cold metal table, or sand under your feet. These details make meditations a lot more fun, you’ll start sensing things with your five senses. I really enjoyed these exercises, and going down this route will also enable you to start hearing and feeling a breeze when you’re meditating on a beach. It’s awesome, even if it has no spiritual purpose, LOL. And we have to admit that on some level, having psychic powers can be a lot of fun!  =)

  • The energy management section teaches us how to draw on earth energy and run it through our body. You will also learn to absorb and store it, so that you can then use it in your psychic and energy work. There is also a neat trick, where you draw energy through your body, out your hands creating a ball of energy (called psi balls in the book). I’ve used these in my healing sessions, I will often program a disc to cleanse and aura and then I use my hands to move it through the client’s energy field.

All in all, Psychic Development Simplified is a great book and I definately recommend it. If you're waiting for the other shoe to drop, I did find a couple kinks in it's theory (but nothing major). In most cases I would be in favor is agreeing to disagree, but for the purpose of this review I'll throw a few challenges out there :

  • The author's knowledge of the chakras and the energy body is spot on. However, I did notice that one of the aura's layers went missing in the descriptions. When talking about the energy body, the author covers the physical, etheric, mental and spiritual layers (skipping the emotional layer of the aura, which links to our sacral chakra). This is a very important part of our energy body, especially when it comes to healing as many illnesses are linked to emotions.

  • There was a section that made me laugh – Shopping Centers are Evil – Not really, the author  says, but he still tells us to stay away from public places because they are full of energies that can give us headaches. This is true, but it’s not practical to stay away from crowds and malls. Instead, I would suggest that you learn to desensitize your chakras and close down. If you’re a full-blown clairsentient you may need to take extra precautions, but grounding and closing down will be enough for most of us.

  • The author is against channeled messages, and tells us not to channel messages unless you’ve been doing psychic work for 30 years! My entire lifetime, and then some, LOL! His view is that we don’t know who is on the other side, and that we shouldn’t put our trust in them. My view is – Trust Your Judgment! Don’t put 100% faith in spirit guides, or mediums. If it sounds like gobbledygook just flush it. But if it makes sense and sheds light on your problems, take it into account. And lastly, don’t try this at home folks, a safe professional environment is usually best =)

At the end of the day, Psychic Development Simplified’s greatest strength is that it is based on the author’s practical experience with energy management and psychic development. There is a lot in the book that I haven’t covered here, read it to get started!
