I'm a Certified Realm Reader!

As of this week, I am a Certified Realm Reader. Yay! What are realm readings? Something magical and maybe not quite literal. Its based on the notion that human beings reincarnate, and that we're not always human beings in each life. Some people come from angelic backgrounds (affinity with angels), others are very close to the earth and the animal kingdom (elementals) and still others, have been around the block sooo many times, that they're WISE OLD SOULS. It's a fun course to take and it is defintely thought provoking to see people that way, whether you believe in reincarnation or not. You could also say, certain people embody the qualities that we associate with sages, angels, or even nature.

Identifying a person's realm can help you understand what motivates them, how they relate to others, and what their life purpose and passions might be.

I am glad to take one of Doreen Virtue's certification classes, if for no other reason, that I love her cards and use them A LOT on this blog, on my Facebook page, and in readings. It was time for a new energy exchange, and signing up for a certification class is a good way to go about it. Of course, I also learn to do Realm Readings and hopefully I can incorporate them into my work. Doreen has a realm reader book (also fab!)  Just so you know, its very sci-fi and fanciful.

Also good fun!

How do Flower Essences Work?

I am halfway done with writing my next book, which sounds wonderful, unless I admit I've been stuck for the past month or so. Earlier this week I booked an appointment with my favourite flower healer. More than anything, I needed to get going again and I was hoping she could help. I've been taking a mix of flower essences since Tuesday. Yesterday I finally finished that chapter I'd been stuck on. Phew!

How do flower essences work?

The way I understand it, each flower has a vibrational pattern which can be used to soften aspects of our personality. Especially quirks that sabotage your life. Say for example, it's in your nature to underestimate yourself. You could take the Bach Flower Essence Larch and with time, your confidence would increase. It would make it easier to rise to new challenges. We can also rely on essences to help us through temporary problems. For example, Elm could help a person who is feeling overwhelmed by responsibility after a big life change.

Bach Flowers are wonderful, I also really love the Australian Bush Flower Essences and the Alaskan Essences, especially their space clearing and protection sprays. I am a self-study amateur when it comes to flower healing. I'll go to Whole Foods and read through the descriptions, picking out the essences that fit my current mental and emotional state. Over time, I have accumulated maybe 15-20 essences which I take as and when I need them. One of the essences I chose also happens to relate to my star sign.

You can also used a quartz pendulum to discover which essences you need. I do this at home with the ones I already have, lining up the bottles so that the labels face away from me. This way, I am not influenced by what I think I need. Then I glide the pendulum over the bottles and let is say YES or NO. When I did this last month, I got LARCH (underestimating myself, low confidence, thinking others are more capable) as well as ASPEN (inflexible mind, being too strict with yourself or others, narrow minded).

That odd combination fit my mental state perfectly! How could I be imposing, if I was also underestimating myself? The mental flexibility helped me open up to different ways of doing things, which I needed. If you're the type to paint yourself into a corner with rigid thinking, then ASPEN is for you! I have a life long habit of underestimating myself, and then realising I could have done the job as well as anyone else. That is where Larch comes in handy. I took these essences for about two weeks and then stopped. Part of being able to choose your own essences is having the self-awareness and introspection to be honest when you're blocking your progress in some way. We all have our blind spots, and its also possible to meditate and ask your Higher Self for answers =)

Sooo, I hope you consider flower healing! I have a sneaking suspicion that you might enjoy the same effect if you fill your home with the flowers you need. Sometimes I buy flowers by color to stimulate a particular chakra. Also helps!

Read Dr Bach's Book

Dr Edward Bachs flower remedies were meant to be a Do-It-Yourself emotional and mental support system and his manual with recipes, uses and applications is available at BachCentre.com. Read it to get started with essences! Hope it helps =)

We're Live Tomorrow on AIR Psychic Radio!

My new radio show starts tomorrow! Tuesday night at 10 PM Eastern Time (that's tonight for those of you who are subscribing on email). I have been practicing too, wrote a little script for myself and everything. It should be fun. I really like story telling and thought that would be a good way to start, my psychic story in 10 minutes. Then we will take callers on the show. Yay!

I have never done anything like this before so I am very excited, but also a bit nervous. The practice sessions will help with that. I also booked a session with my favourite flower healer tomorrow. She has essences that can be used to let the throat chakra open up easily in public situations (good for people who might need to speak in public.) I'm meditating on being relaxed, in the flow and letting the words flow. Also sending Reiki to myself and to my listeners.

This is just the first show. It will become more natural as we go along. After tomorrow's intro, we will go on to talk about a range of energetic concepts, including grounding, clearing your energy, protection, activating and deactivating your energy field for psychic work, etc. The list goes on and on. I might also try a few interactive healing sessions. Sooo many possibilities =)

You can listen tomorrow at 9 PM Central Time on A1R Psychic Radio. The recordings will also be available on ask1radio.com.

Hope to see you there!

TV Mediums, Dreams and Premonitions

The past few weeks I have been watching the TV show Medium, with Patricia Arquette. It's about a psychic mom, Alison Dubois, who works part time solving crimes with the DA. Most of her visions and insights about cases come in dreams. And she wakes up in a fright after each one. That must suck.

The  psychic mom gets little bits of info at a time which send her in the general direction of the culprit but not quite. Sometimes I find the main character to be self-absorbed, because everything in her life takes second place to her dreams and sense of "righteousness." She had a dream. She has to act on it before they commit a crime, no matter what. Every now and then she takes a stand against someone and then realises that she didn't have a full picture. Ouch.

If anything, those experiences can teach the rest of us a lesson. Psychic impressions can be hard to interpret or place. A bad dream might scare you if you mistake it for a premonition. Not all of the things we dream about or sense will come to pass. I like to think of the future as a "Choose Your Own Adventure" novel. The choices we make tomorrow can take us down a different road, and the vision we had today can change. That is one of the reasons why I don't ask about the future very often. I would rather get a little head's up so I can adjust my behavior now and travel down a different road if possible.

That said, the show is a lot of fun. Her little girls are also psychic and you see how each if them handles it. And she does catch a lot of bad guys. The show is bases on a real life psychic. One of my tutors practices Remote Viewing - it wasn’t easy to wrap my head around! I don't see myself going in that direction, for now.

Buddhism 101

I have been reading up on Buddhism lately. Based on what I have seen so far I would define the concept of Nirvana as "lasting peace of mind." It is hard to summarise a spiritual path in a single blog post, but Buddhism tells us that: Life Stinks (sometimes), the cause of all suffering is wanting life to be something it's not, and that we can escape suffering by giving up our "ideals" and accepting life as it is.

Some of this I find hard to swallow. If life is less than optimal, why shouldn't we try to create better circumstances for ourselves? Do we "settle" for less and stay where we are? Isn't that the definition of mediocrity, at least by western standards? Like most spiritual paths, Buddhism focuses on spiritual growth as a priority. Better luck in your next life. I feel conflicted about this. I do.

What I did find useful was the Eightfold Path to Nirvana. Things we can do (or not do) everyday to be more centred, happy and relaxed.

This is how I understand the Eightfold Path:

  • See life as it is, not how you want it to be.
  • Don't try to shoehorn life into your idea of what it should be. The same goes for other people, we can accept and love rather than change them.
  • Speak plainly. No drama. No manipulation.
  • Keep life simple  :-)
  • Be grateful for your job and do it well. We don't all need to win Nobel Prizes. Spiritual pursuits are important too. Let's keep the job in perspective, and focus on what makes the heart & soul happy.
  • Balance is king! The middle road is sustainable, being a goody two shoes, not so much! I take this to mean that we all make mistakes and that's OK.
  • Cultivate self-awareness, how do we speak, act and move about? This is the first step towards mindfulness, which encourages us to be present in our daily lives and fully aware of who we are.
  • Live in the Now! Meditate

Personally, I thought about the first point and I still want to manoeuver my way around situations that don't feel right. If you don't enjoy your job, find a new one. Don't despair. It won't last forever. Better things are always around the corner. I also think that we have a shared responsibility towards people who have it hard. Maybe the person who was born in abject poverty can't do much to rise above it, but the rest of us could help by rethinking our economic and social systems. War, poverty and inequality are the result of systems we have created.
