Climate Change: Why do we ignore the Science?

Last year I signed up for an environmental psychology class with Professor Jeffrey Kiehl at Pacifica Graduate InstituteWe looked at WHY the science is so easy to ignore. Professor Khiel has a book called Facing Climate Change where you'll find more info, but in a nutshell:

The last few centuries of progress have been shaped by the idea that nature is separate from us, inferior to us (as we’ve moved away from seeing Spirit in nature), and that it can be tamed and exploited. The Age of Reason led to humans thinking of ourselves as superior because the intellect was deemed superior. We’ve also developed big egos 😅 Apparently, climate denial is more common amongst educated groups. It’s like the confidence in our ability to think for ourselves outweighs scientific research. There is also a breakdown of trust in the collective, which augments this.

To solve climate change, we need more empathy and less intellect (weird, huh?)

The scientific community identified fossil fuels as a problem almost 140 years ago! But their warnings fall on deaf ears. Data doesn’t lead to action because the parts of the brain that are involved in decision making and resolution are emotional, not rational. Decisions involve the Limbic System - in one case, a person’s amydgala is activated (a fearful trauma response) which happens if they are scared of losing security or being threatened. Others are aligned with action, empathy and problem solving; the "anterior cingulate cortex" is activated in this group's brain.

Those who fall into the 2nd neurological response tend to be community-focused rather than individualistic, which makes the prospect of solving a crisis less daunting. They are more likely to do something about climate change, and to feel connected to others / nature.

Denial + inaction are linked to the fear response. I’m sharing this because I watched Don’t Look Up. Loved the movie, but we need to shift our awareness efforts away from facts, and towards empathy & community building. Professor Khiel also points to storytelling and archetypes as a vital tool in climate action. It's what makes us connect with and care about the planet. Planting trees also helps a ton by bringing down temperature levels 🌤️

We can do it together 🌴🌴🌴

A Meditation to Bring Forth Your Light

I have been in Mexico for three weeks now, after almost two years abroad, and gosh it's been interesting. Apparently my body has lost touch with the ecosystem; my first week here I ate all the tacos and then regretted it LOL (Moctezuma isn't my friend).

Today I had a fun surprise - my new tripod arrived! I recorded a chakra healing meditation with the angels to celebrate. In this meditation we focus on the manifesting chakras (Root, Sacral, Solar Plexus) and on the Heart. These chakras give us presence and power in our daily lives.

There have been so many times when I promised myself I'd livestream meditations on social media but never got around to it. Here's to new beginnings, and to fulfilled promises in 2022!

I still have a bit of a cold - hope it was relaxing anyway!

Inner Wounds Can Be Healed to Release Our Light

I’m reading a great book by Barbara Brennan, called Core Light Healing. It looks at how your spark of divine light flows into your life as part of a daily creative process. One that can be blocked by fear, childhood trauma and especially by dualistic belief systems and behavioral patterns.

The word dualism is used a LOT in healing and spiritual circles. I have trouble understanding what people mean by it. In college, my philosophy teachers had us define terms the first time we used them because a particular word might be used in different ways by different people.

For Brennan, dualism is the attitude that things are black or white, right or wrong, but also a split that happens between our mind and emotions. It’s when our feelings about challenging situations are blocked off to keep us from feeling emotional pain. The healing process involves sending love or compassion through those walled-off blocks of emotion or consciousness, so that we become whole again. Self Healing brings more light, power and presence into our lives.

Brennan describes this dualistic split as a pocket of light that is surrounded by a painful wound, and then wrapped up in a defense system that keeps life from coming into contact with that wound. The defense might be fear and avoidance; it keeps us from feeling pain, but it also traps part of our creative light. That fear keeps us from taking necessary risks - the parts of your life that feels stuck can be traced to these often unconscious wounds.

This concept of having our core divine light trapped in an emotional wound has been around for centuries. It’s part of the mystical side of Judaism (Kabbalah). In Hebrew, these pockets of trapped light are called Klippot, and they are created when we split our consciousness and lean towards fear, away from love, courage and kindness. The more we block off our light, the harder and harsher the defense mechanisms become. The process happens on individual and collective levels. It can be repaired with kindness and compassion.

The concept was first described by Rabbi Issac Luria a few centuries ago. The world correction (Tikkun Olam) is carried out by piercing those defenses one by one, with kindness, love and compassion. The similarity between that Kabbalistic view and energy healing occurred to me yesterday, though I was already in the habit of sending Reiki through my klippot. I’ve been reading up on both for 10 years.

As you may know, Energy Healers channel the qualities of love, kindness and compassion through the Aura so that these blocks can be released. This involves feeling the emotions locked in that pocket of energy. call on the archangels as they make the whole process gentler.

We can also work with the violet flame to heal emotional pain - this corresponds to the sphere of love & compassion on the Kabbalistic Tree of Life (Chesed) 💜

The Universe in You ✨✨✨

In her book, Brennan also describes a process of soul embodiment where your divine light flows from that core, through a black, infinite field of potential, into the physical world. It sounds a lot like the Kabbalistic theory of creation - whether we see it as one Big Bang, or millions of souls coming into the world. Our physical bodies are largely made of that primal essence (hydrogen) and that very element is what gives us water (compassion).

>> Hydrogen is the lightest Element in the Universe! It has been around since the beginning of time. Hydrogen is a small percentage of human body mass but it accounts for the majority of our atoms. We are made of stardust, but also, the stuff that’s been around before the stars.

👉🏻 Read my books and heal yourself! Both of them introduce energy healing, with a focus on the mental, emotional and spiritual bodies. The books do not cover Kabbalah, only energy healing.

Planetary Aspects in Astrology

The past year I have spent a lot of time going deeper with astrology; it's one of my favorite themes but also incredibly complex. I have always approached it as a personal awareness tool, looking to my chart for journaling and intuitive healing prompts. Prediction has never been my thing. In part because I've learned to rely on my intuition, and I would rather focus on healing and integrating.

As a healer/astrologer, one of the coolest things about tech is the fact that anyone can access their chart without having to dig through pages of astrological calendars. Or without calculating how many degrees the Earth had spun past sunrise at the their time of birth (Rising Sign).

The past few weeks I've been sharing the basics of chart interpretation on Instagram every Thursday. You'll find a summary HERE

Looking at Aspects In Astrology

Today I'd like to share the next and final theme from the introduction: Aspects, or planetary interactions. This is my favorite theme in natal astrology but it's also where I zoned out when I started studying my chart. My mind couldn’t process the lines crisscrossing the chart.

But it's worth it - I've tried to keep it as simple as possible 😅

In previous posts we looked at the the Personal Planets and what they represent in the personality or the psyche. For example, Venus tells us what a person wants and values whereas Mars is how they go about getting what Venus wants. The Moon speaks to emotions and inner security. Mercury is how one thinks, speaks and processes info.

Most of us are familiar with the idea of the Planets in Zodiac Signs and what it means if Mars is in Libra, for example, but there is a WHOLE other layer to astrology that speaks to how well these qualities in the psyche relate to each other. Do they play ball as a team or not etc?

Have a look at the chart below - the red and blue lines zigzagging across the circle are ASPECTS. These lines tell us where to focus our efforts at self-healing and integrating. And it’s usually with the tense aspects (Red) that we find alchemy - turning our base metal into gold.

Please have a look at the example chart below! I've focused on just one interaction as there are too many to cover. You'll see Mars and the Moon squaring off; this tension will push the individual into action. I like to think of the square (90 degrees) as tension that guitar strings need to play music. You'll also see Jupiter sending a ray of confidence and luck to Mars, which makes it easier for that person to get what they're going after (or to stay positive in the face of setbacks).

The Red is Creative Tension
Blue flows easily, they get along!

There is a lot more to Aspect theory. For example, we can also look at the degree that the planets are in to see how strong the effect is. In this chart, the Moon is at 3 degrees and the Sun is at 5 degrees, a difference of roughly 2 degrees (also known as an Orb). The smaller the Orb, the stronger the effect. I tend to focus my energy healing efforts on aspects with orbs under 5-6 degrees, and always spend more time on those under 3 degrees.

If one of the outer planets (Uranus, Pluto or Neptune) is in close aspect to your Sun or Moon, it will have a HUGE effect on your personality. We haven't covered these planets yet, but in most cases, they are said to be felt on a generational level rather than an individual. I have aspects to all three but I somehow missed the Neptune connection until recently - there is just so much to look at! 😅

The Geometry of Aspects

There is also a LOT to be said about the angles formed - that is where the magic happens. If you'd like to know about the meaning of specific ASPECTS, say 60 degree angles vs 90 or 120, The Astrology Podcast has a fantastic 2-hour video on YouTube. It is remarkably easy to follow (Watch it HERE). I've always thought of our personal planets as members of our soccer team lol. The Podcast's explanation of planets in aspect as ‘planets that can see each other’ resonates with me. When in aspect, they can play ball together.

There are many wonderful astrology books out there - Judy Hall's The Astrology Bible is at the top of my recommended reading list because of the chapter on Aspects. I use these as journaling prompts and she covers them in just enough detail. Sue Tompkins' Aspects in Astrology is also fantastic but I wouldn't recommend it right out of the gate.

Check out the Astrology Tab if you're brand new to healing with the stars. The opposition (180°) is the basis for Integrating the Shadow.

Happy Halloween!

Soul Healing, Astrology and the Higher Heart Chakra

Did you know that as well as the seven main chakras, we have energy centers in the Aura? These are seen as transpersonal because they take our awareness beyond our individual lives. This awareness can include past lives, the planet and most importantly, the collective experience.

Some of the Transpersonal Chakras are especially relevant when it comes to energy healing & astrology. Tuning into them will open up your natal chart’s gifts & lessons.

I’ve listed these chakras bottom-up because they need to be approached that way or we’ll lose our footing, energetically:

➡️ The Earth Star Chakra is beneath your feet in the ground, connecting you with nature and with the planet’s history. What has happened on Earth, in previous generations, that you still need to heal?

➡️ The Universal Heart Chakra (or Higher Heart) can be found above the classical Heart Chakra, near the Thymus gland. It connects you with your Higher Self, bringing in bigger currents of love from that aspect of your full self. Grounding from the Higher Heart gives you extra strength when channeling planetary energies.

➡️ The Soular (Soul Star) Chakra is about six inches above the head. I tend to see and feel it as a Moon. It has to do with past lives and with your soul’s path. This is also where the energy of your birth chart is stored, which then cascades into the spiritual layer of the Aura. Astrology transits are felt because of the Soular

The energy in the spiritual Aura layer filters through the inner layers of the Aura, as discussed in my book, Chakra Healing & Magick. Healing the emotional and mental Aura layers also makes it easier to perceive spiritual energy around us. This is an essential part of self-healing. The Aura and the seven main chakras are covered in the book. I’ll start to include the transpersonal chakras in my meditations on YouTube.

Energy Healing Meditations

There are lots of ways to work with the astrology chart when we think about energy healing. Activating the Earth Star Chakra releases excess energy into the ground. It also attunes us to plants & crystals, which can be used to harmonize the Aura and our lives. Chapter 1 of Chakra Healing & Magick looks at this.

Please begin with this Earth Star Activation on Youtube. Don't forget to check out the Astrology Tab in the Menu Bar for an introduction to healing & the stars! I have been sharing the basics of astrology on Instagram, this was today's post!

Reach out for energy healing sessions that focus on your natal chart.

Reiki hugs,

Regina

ps ... Read my books for an intro to energy healing and intuition. Please note, they lay the foundations but my books do NOT include the transpersonal chakras 🤍

Archangel Jophiel: The Light of Wisdom, Beauty and Inspiration

Some of the archangels resonate with different personality types; I've always had my mind on overdrive. It is one of the reasons why I got into meditation. The angel that can help us clear our mind and bring in a ray of sunlight is none other than Archangel Jophiel! His yellow light filters through the mental Aura layer, where writer's block and other creativity blocks can be released or transmuted.

You can ask that he open your mind to other ways of thinking, which plays a big part in getting out of a rut. A closed mind will quickly paint you into a corner.

A Golden Meditation:

You can call on Archangel Jophiel by taking a few breaths, grounding yourself, and visualizing your Aura filled with gold light. Light a candle and ask Archangels Michael & Jophiel to approach you.

Visualize a swirl of light clearing away anything that blocks your inner vision. If you have a pen or a set of crayons nearby, start to draw or write and see what comes up for you! Let inspiration flow!

If you're familiar with the Kabbalistic Tree of Life, each of the ten spheres on the tree relates to a quality that we can connect with to heal ourselves and the world. I have been meaning to write a post about our Personal Tree for months, but it ends up being really long (still simplifying it).

The idea is that the archangels, including Archangels Michael, Raphael and Gabriel, can help us connect with spheres that resonate with their energy. In the past, I've always felt like Archangel Jophiel was missing from the angelic correspondences in books and other sources.

Last year I discovered a book called The Angel Bible by Hazel Raven. It's the first time I've seen a diagram of the Tree that includes Jophiel. She associates Archangels Michael and Jophiel with the dimension of HOD. This sphere represents the Mind (Jophiel) and communication, but also how we assert ourselves in the physical world (Michael) and the karma it creates.

My intuition tells me that Archangels Michael and Jophiel work together so that we can see all of our options, taking the route that leads us to victory - and without hurting others in the process.

By the way, The Angel Bible's description of HOD differs from what I've seen elsewhere, especially which spheres relate to rational thought vs emotional drives. I think this can be explained by the gender ascribed to each of the Tree's Pillars. But Archangel Jophiel helps with creativity and rational thought, bringing us into balance.
