What is Holy Fire ® Reiki ?

Hello Chickpeas!

I want to tell you about a new Reiki class that I took this weekend. First off, when I signed up for Reiki in 2012 there were only three levels: beginners, practitioner and teacher. And if you hadn’t noticed, Reiki is one of the modalities that I enjoy most; I enjoy giving myself Reiki as much as I love teaching it =)

To make a long story short, when people refer to Reiki they usually mean Usui Reiki - a system of natural healing that was developed in Japan by Mikao Usui about 100 years ago. Legend has it that Usui, a lifelong buddhist, embarked on a meditative retreat on Mount Kurama near Kyoto, hoping to achieve higher degrees of clarity and trust in his life (another word for enlightenment).

As legend has it, he felt a massive ray of light come down from above. That rush of light entered his body through the top of his head and when he came to again, he decided it was time to leave. Usui was already a healer and over the next days and weeks, he noticed that healings happened spontaneously and with less effort on his part. He shared this with others by teaching a system that is now known as Usui Reiki. Fast forward 100 years, and different styles of Reiki have been taught to thousands around the world.

How Does One Teach Reiki?

In order to teach Reiki, Usui and the Reiki Masters who followed him devised a process that is referred to as an attunement. This is a brief healing with which the teacher instills Reiki in the student's energy and body, opening the pathway so that from that moment on, the student can channel Reiki whenever they like. Once you have Reiki, it is yours for life (I LOVE THAT). The past seven years I have used it extensively with myself, with friends and with clients, many of whom were cancer patients mid-treatment (always complementary to medical care).

In my experience the effects have been soothing and powerful. But I have also wondered how that attunement process came about. Usui received it directly from Source, and since then, everyone who has received Reiki has received it through the filter of the human body (teacher) who shared it with them. Based on my experience with energy healing in general, I have learned that human bodies can only channel a certain amount of energy; the same is true for Reiki Masters. Wouldn't it be cool if we could establish our connection to Reiki without that human filter?

Direct Attunements Are Possible

In Holy Fire ® Reiki classes, the connection to Reiki is through a guided meditation where the teacher sets the intention, steps back and lets that Holy Fire ® energy come down from above to interact with each of the students individually. This was a Reiki Master class so we had four ignitions (as they're called) over a three day period, each stronger than the last. With the first one I felt lots of irritation as it brought to the surface everything that I had swept under the rug (reiki healing crisis). The second brought a welcome wave of peace and light. And the third a rush of compassion; the subject of my next post as the feeling was pretty much new to me.

Each of the ignitions was unique. By the time they are over, your energy has been shifted over to a frequency that is more open and loving and also empowered when it comes to healing. Reiki was strong enough as it is, with this direct empowerment it flows a lot quicker than I was used to. That said, I believe Reiki is frequency and we are each guided to the teacher and styles that are suited to help us heal at that point in our lives. The traditional style of Reiki attunements has worked well for me the past seven years =)

Usui Reiki vs Holy Fire® Reiki

Usui was a Japanese healer and as you would expect, that healing path is largely influenced by Asian religions. In Holy Fire® we come across a healing vibration that is closer to what we see in the Bible  (think Moses, the Burning Bush and Healing Miracles). The next step after Holy Fire® is a Master Teacher class in Karuna Reiki® - which takes us back to the compassion of eastern traditions. We went through both this week; Karuna Reiki® gives us quite a few tools to work through the shadow side including fears, insecurities and unconscious patterns. Karuna Reiki® is usually studied after we have become Usui (or Holy Fire®) Reiki Teachers.

And Some Aries Fire (In Me)

Two years ago my progressed Sun moved into Aries, astro speak for: I am a lot less patient than I used to be. Traditional Usui Reiki is fantastic and while it worked well for me for years, ever since my Progressed Sun changed signs, I want everything to happen that much faster. I think the Universe answered my prayers with this Holy Fire®  Reiki class. And as my intuition kept telling me: No Aries wants to heal slowly hahaha. I kept hearing that phrase to the tune of Ricky Martin and Cristina Aguilera.

Please note that Holy Fire ® Reiki is complementary to medical care, not alternative. The healing referred to in this article is how quickly I have let go of things that used to bother me; the peace that follows is just priceless. That said, Reiki is a wonderful complement to medical care! Please follow this link for more on energy healing and cancer support.

My Jupiter Talisman Is Here! 😍

The last few years I have been studying astrology, specifically a current that looks at the planets and how we can connect with their energy to empower ourselves. At first I wondered what that meant; it's similar to grounding and connecting Mother Earth or Gaia.

In Energy Healing we use our intention to send healing to people in other parts of the world. When it comes to the planets, we can create similar bridges of energy, bringing the loving energy of Venus down when the time is right for it - or maybe Mercury's quick wit and communications. Each of the planets has a range of associations.

Distant Healing is covered in my book, Chakra Healing & Magick. The thought of connecting with the planets came to me during a meditation with Archangel Raziel, the angel of astrology. But as it turns out, this type of astrology has been around for hundreds of years!

Next week I am meeting with a group who is interested in a weekly astrological meditation class - in person, in Mexico City - and I was just thinking it would be fun to do something similar online 😍

So far I have just one astrology / energy healing meditation on YouTube, geared towards helping us connect with Scorpio when the Moon transits this powerful, intuitive and transformative sign. The Moon is in Scorpio this weekend, have a look!

But that is not why I am blogging today! A month ago I ordered a gold-plated Jupiter talisman, my birthday pressie to myself. This can be used to connect with the confident and expansive energy of Jupiter in Sagittarius. It finally arrived this morning, yay!!! I have already done my first energy healing meditation. It actually pulsates (the medal).

I have yet to give it an intention but most of Jupiter's themes are right up my alley, as you'll see in this guest post on a friend's astrology website: Spread Your Wings With Jupiter in Sagittarius.

Check it out and connect with the planet of good luck yourself. We have all of 2019 to channel its energy - and no, strictly speaking, we do not need a gold-plated talisman to connect with Jupiter.

You can do it yourself  =)

Calling on Spirit Guides in Tarot Readings

The Law of Attraction works in funny ways. They say that what we think about or feel very strongly will manifest around us, and this is cool if you are manifesting things you love (if not always straightforward). But there is at least one area where this "law" can trip us up: tarot readings.

Let's say you go for a tarot reading and you're worried about your job or your marriage. That fear or worry is held in your Aura, and when the cards are shuffled and drawn, instead of drawing the messages that your guides and angels want you to hear, we draw images that appear to confirm those fears. I think this is one of the reasons why some people are scared of tarot. Luckily this can be remedied by following a few simple steps.

Start By Clearing Yourself

Whenever I sit down with a client, we begin the reading with a short energy healing meditation to help the person ground, clear and shield their energy - toning down any fears that they may have about their lives, relationships and careers. Strong emotions are magnets of sorts, and the last thing we want to do is pull a card that appears to confirm their fear when it is just mirroring it.

Next, we call on Archangel Michael to place a bubble of protective light around us, before calling on one of the client's spirit guides to join us. We always ask for guides of the highest and most loving vibration for that person. As opposed to angels, guides were once human and their advice is more grounded, practical and earthly than angels. Spirit guides know what it is like to be in relationships, to raise kids, and to think about rent or to negotiate a raise at work.

Their guidance broadens our perspective, but we are always responsible for our decisions. Rather than ask what to do or what might happen, I like to ask where I am tripping up (for example).

Self-Awareness Triggers

The other thing that I love about spirit guides, is that having been human, they are well aware of our psychological pitfalls and are quick to call us on our BS. The archangels can be confrontational too, especially Archangel Michael, but guides are as direct as that Sagittarius best friend who says exactly what he sees.

If the thought of connecting with spirit guides sounds a bit too sci-fi, you can also set the intention to catch up with your Higher Self or Inner Guide.

Once you’ve have grounded and cleared yourself and the tarot cards (read Ch 1 in Chakra Healing & Magick), think about the situation that needs healing and visualize a stream of silver light coming down from the heavens. Stay with this 2 minutes.

The light flows into the deck and adds the magnetism necessary to pull the cards that will illustrate your spirit guide's message in way that you are sure to understand it.

Before interpreting the cards in a session, I always ask the client which one evokes the strongest emotional reaction. This is usually the one that needs attention, and from that card, we can unravel the message. The feeling needs healing.

You can do the same; be sure to ground, clear and shield yourself at the end.

The Four Elements.

If you have read my book, Chakra Healing & Magick, you will know that the Tarot's Minor Arcana can be divided into four suits of cards: Water, Earth, Air and Fire. Each  of these elements corresponds to a personal quality that we need to thrive: empathy and personal relationships (💦), spiritual and material wealth (🌴), logic and peace of mind (🚁), and creativity or passion (🔥).

Based on the cards that come up in a tarot reading and the ones that we are most drawn to, we know where the client's internal blocks, fears and worries lie - and where their opportunities for growth can be found. This can be addressed with energy healing meditations to work through those issues in the Aura. We can use energy healing and crystal magic to work through all of these issues, as discussed in the final chapters of Chakra Healing & Magick.

Any deck based on Rider-Waite will work, but for energy healing purposes, the more vivid the images, the better. The ones I have been using in healing sessions are Everyday Witch by Deborah Blake and The Wizards Tarot by Corrine Kenner. The Enchanted Tarot by Amy Zerner is also great. Clearly, I love the magical associations but the designs are fantastic.

Clearing Energy With Quartz Wands

I found a lovely quartz massage wand a few weeks ago and I am loving it so far. The thing with crystals is that I always feel like I have more than enough - anything you might need - then a new one makes its way into my life and I couldn't be happier LOL.

This stone has plenty of clouds and shapes; it almost looks like it has angel wings in there near the point. I absolutely adore quartz crystals because they are fun to meditate with and on some occasions, we can even use them for scrying.

This particular wand caught my attention for energy healing sessions. The thought that came to mind was heavy-duty clearing agent. Much like a Hoover. I suspect that the clearing strength comes from its cloudiness. This got me thinking about how a quartz' characteristics can influence how we use it for energy healing or meditation.

This quartz wand is slow when it comes to filling the body with light; it just doesn't seem to flow that way. But it is fantastic at removing dense, stuck or negative energy from the Chakras. This opens up the client's energy field so that they can receive more light. At that stage, I tend to work just with my hands, sending energy healing directly into the client's Aura and Chakras. I do this by visualizing a sun behind me, intending for starlight to flow through me to the client (the sun is also a star). If you are into Greek mythology, call on Apollo for help: sunlight, music and healing 💛

When I saw this wand in the store it felt like a clearing crystal and it just so happened that I had a client booked in the next day who was going through an especially tough time. I bought it thinking of her and then used it in our healing session. It helped LOADS.

How Do We Use The Wand?

If you are new to energy healing, my books will guide you through the process of awakening your inner healer (below)! This includes a violet cocoon of light that is visualised around the healer and client at the outset of the session - it serves to transmute any energy released.

If you already practice Reiki or Energy Healing, be sure to clear and charge your crystal before following your usual process. Keep it in your pocket during the healing session and bring it out if you come across a Chakra or Aura layer that takes longer than usual to clear.

We can hold the wand over that area, point facing away from the body and move it in slow circles, or visualize a vacuum cleaner sucking any negative energy out of the person's energy field.

As a matter of fact, we do this in Energy Healing sessions even without the crystal, calling on Archangel Michael instead. Just visualize your hands holding a vacuum and ask the angels to remove any energy, thoughts or beliefs that are ready to go.

Note: I find myself pausing to clear the quartz by visualizing light running through it into the ground. We could use a Selenite stick or wand instead as those tend to stay clear. But this type of quartz is wonderful at vacuuming energy from the Chakras.

To clear the Aura, simply hold the crystal wand in your hand and brush very gently - parallel to the body. At the School of Intuition & Healing we learned to brush upwards from the shoulders so that stray thoughts are released over the head and not sent through the entire Aura. The rest of the Aura is brushed down from the shoulders.

When that is done, we fill that space with healing light or Reiki. If you have read Chakra Healing & Magick, you will know that we have seven large chakras in the physical body and that the Aura can be broken down into four levels: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. Make sure to fill all of these layers with light when you are done clearing. I use my hands to bring in light - no crystal.

Want to know more?

Follow the link to the Bookstore for more on energy healing. We can all learn to activate our psychic and healing abilities. All it takes is a bit of practice and a roadmap, you'll find both in my books. Chakra Healing & Magick includes crystal magick for healing.

Reiki hugs,

Regina
