Astrology and Healing: Chakra and Planetary Alignments

Most weekends I organise an Interactive Reading on my Facebook Page. This week I used Astrology Cards for each of the Chakras. We can stimulate our Chakras by connecting with their corresponding planet in meditation. I've been doing it with the Solar Plexus and Jupiter, as they both relate to self-confidence, belief and willingness to take flight. Works like a charm!

Choose one of the following Chakras and scroll down to read more!

BASE - SACRAL - SOLAR PLEXUS
HEART - THROAT - BROW - CROWN

Base Chakra (Vitality)

Located at the base of the spine, the Root Chakra connects us with the Earth. It regulates the flow of energy at our disposal for physical and material pursuits. We can turn to the planet Mars for help healing this bright red Chakra. Mars gets a bad rap as the aggressor in the zodiac but it can also help us with physical endurance, energy, vitality and resilience. I personally like to connect with Mother Earth and with Mars when I feel I am lacking in any of these (see meditation for details). Of course, we can also stimulate our Root Chakra by eating healthier, fresher foods that give us energy.

Sacral Chakra (Passion)

The Sacral Chakra relates to our appetite for life, creativity and sexuality. It is located just under the belly button in your abdomen. When this Chakra is out of balance we can experience things like emotional eating, impulse control problems and even addictive behavior. At the School of Intuition & Healing we learned that the Sacral Chakra is energetically paired with the Throat Chakra, providing an outlet for our feelings. This is why I associate the Sacral Chakra with Mercury, the planet of self-expression and with Venus, the planet of Love. It’s also worth mentioning that we can work with the Sacral and Throat Chakras in tandem if we want to heal ourselves and speak our truth.

Solar Plexus Chakra (Personal Power):

This bright yellow Chakra reminds me of the beauty we see in the world, especially when we learn to see our individuality as an advantage in life. The Solar Plexus relates to our sense of self and confidence, two aspects that are reflected by Jupiter and by the Sun. Work with both of these planets to give your energy a boost, raising your self-esteem in the process. Jupiter magnifies what we think about, so keep your heart and mind positive. The Solar Plexus and Brow Chakra’s energies play off each other, and by keeping our outlook sunny we are better able to work with our personal power.

It is also easy to stimulate the Solar Plexus Chakra by connecting with the energy of the Sun and with yellow flowers. We can do this by visualizing our personal power center blooming like a flower, or even by surrounding our personal space with yellow flowers and sunstone crystals.

Heart Chakra (Love)

The Heart Chakra is about love and healing. This can include love for ourselves, for others, for the planet and for all life forms. When we focus on love, compassion follows naturally, as it is hard to judge someone harshly if we focus on the good in them. It also makes it easier to feel empathy. Stimulate your Heart Chakra by meditating on Venus, the planet of Love and Beauty. Work with Venus to enhance your love of life. Unconditional love is the most powerful healer out there, especially if it's directed at yourself!

Throat Chakra (Truth):

This Chakra is about communication: listening, speaking and writing. We find our power when we are able to speak our truth, and for this reason I have focused on the powerful and transformative Pluto. Its energy can help us reinvent ourselves and transform our lives. It reminds me of the power of words and how much we can achieve by absorbing knowledge and using it to better ourselves. What we say also has an impact on the people around us. Pluto is a tricky one for self-healing because it moves very slowly, so I personally connect with the Moon when it is in the sign of Scorpio for healing. More on this later!

Brow Chakra (Vision):

The Brow Chakra holds our beliefs, our thoughts, and our prejudices. These elements color the way we see the world. To heal our life, we can begin by healing our thoughts and transforming our outlook. One of my teachers used to tell us that as tarot readers, we facilitate healing by getting others to think about their lives differently. This is why I have paired the Brow Chakra with the Sun (it shed’s light on us) and with Chiron (The Wounded Healer). We can work with both of these energies to enhance our personal healing power, our sense of empathy and our ability to learn new tools. The placement of Chiron in our chart indicates the greatest potential for self-healing (see here for details).

Crown Chakra (Intuition):

The Crown is responsible for our connection to the Divine, illuminating our lives. It’s also the point through which we receive healing energy from the universe, whether you keep that energy for yourself or share it with someone else through your heart and hands. The Moon is the Crown Chakra’s planetary counterpart, and we can work with its silvery energy to develop our intuition. The more we connect with the moon the more in touch we will be with our intuition and our higher self.

If you will notice, I haven’t included all of the planets in this list. Saturn could have been mentioned as one of the Root Chakra planets because its focus on reality, responsibility and timekeeping can be quite grounding – another function that the Root Chakra has in our energy system. Each of the inner planets has a specific day of the week when we are better placed to connect with its energy. Monday is the Moon's day, Tuesday is Mars, Wednesday is Mercury, Thursday is Jupiter, Friday is Venus, Saturday is Saturn and the Sun on Sunday.

Dancing in the Sunlight 💛💛💛

My first week in Mexico is almost over! I love the weather, still can't get over it being sunny all day. And warm. I forgot what it was like to leave the house without a sweater. Five years in London wiped sunshine from my memory. It's also nice to see family, I haven't caught up with friends yet.

Today I went for a walk  and found an outdoorsy coffee shop. It's walking distance from my mom's place and has a patio with trees and swings. This will be where I go to write, at least until I am done with the hand written first draft of my 2nd book. There's a little lake nearby too. I love nature and even though it doesn't look like the Serpentine or Hyde Park, I'm sure I'll love it.

What else? My back is much better now. I am going to start swimming next week. The osteopaths I saw in London suggested swimming plus strengthening exercises (or pilates). That was what I neglected to do when I pulled a muscle in my back last September. I am taking it easy this time.

My books also arrived in the post this week! Thirty kilos of books on astrology, healing, Kabbalah, Reiki, Tarot, Buddhism, anatomy and physiology, Ayurveda and other fun things. Like French. I haven't read them all so I can get started now while I am still getting settled in. Mexico is treating me well  :-)

Have a wonderful weekend and stay tuned, the adventure continues!

A Pill Popping Healer (Sometimes)

I have a confession to make. When I'm in pain, I have a tendency to reach for painkillers. A lot of the time it's fear of feeling pain that makes me go for the painkillers (I'm a wimp) and the past year I've made a point of trying Reiki for 10-15 minutes before reaching for the medicine cabinet. Not today.

Sometimes you have to be practical. I finally boarded a 15-hour flight to Mexico this morning, just a week and a half after I sprained my back when I was packing up my flat. I postponed the flight once and couldn't do so again without overstaying my visa, so I went for the big guns (a blissful OTC combination of paracetamol, caffeine and codeine). Tomorrow I'll go back to stretches, swimming, ice packs, etc.

To be honest, I never considered NOT taking the painkillers. Why suffer through a long flight when I have a perfectly good solution? I swallowed my pride (and the Solpadeine), feels wonderful!

On a side note, this is the first time I have blogged mid-air :-)

Take care,

Regina

Ps ... Responsible blogging: This blissful OTC medication can be addictive if you take it more than three days so I will ditch it tomorrow. Plus I'd much rather switch back to ice packs!

London Bridge is Falling Down ...

A week ago I was getting ready to leave London. I am still leaving though the flight was put on hold because I sprained my back. Ouch! It's the second time this happens in six months, so I am being incredibly careful. My bedrest has given me a lot of time to think about what might be going on.

Both times, I was in the process of moving houses, though aimwasn't carrying anything at the time of the accidents (except for the mental load). The 1st time it happened, I bent down to pick up a piece of paper. The 2nd time it happened, I was getting dressed. Things I do everyday without thinking.

The days leading up to each strain, I had already noticed a stiffness in my lower back. Back pain isn't new to me as my spine curves left and then right. The net effect is a straight looking spine even though it has its weak spots. This was diagnosed about seven years ago. The doctor I saw at the time told me to do strengthening excercises and yoga to stay strong. I need to be more diligent with this ...

Fast forward to 2013, when the 1st big back attack happened. I had loads on my mind: a lot of uncertainty about my life and career. Should I stick with healing and writing, or go back to marketing? On top of that, I was also house hunting for weeks before I found a place. The day I got the keys, I sprained my back. It put my plans to start a healing practice on hold, just like this 2nd occurence put my move to Mexico on hold. Maybe my back goes out when I am not quite ready to take the next step? Or it keeps me from trying (and failing) to take a leap, at least for a little while. Either way, it can be pretty annoying.

Oddly enough, I pulled a card before I hurt my back this week, asking about my last days in London. Guess what I got? The Tower! This is about big changes and saying goodbye to the structures and foundations that can keep us in our comfort zones. Tearing it down. Looking at the image now, I can help notice the similarities between the broken tower and my back, which toppled me over.

So long London! It's been a pleasure

It's time to say goodbye to London. I can't believe it's been 5 years since I got the email from the border agency with the news that my UK work visa had been approved. It sounded too good to be true. I boarded a flight to London, hoping I'd find a job within six months so that I could stay.

I won't lie, it was nerve wrecking. Luckily, it didn't take too long to find a marketing job with an American company. My colleagues were friendly, mostly expats and we all had that in common. I was also looking to try something new so I signed up for meditation lessons. In a roundabout way, I found the College of Psychic Studies and began learning about healing and intuition. The rest is history :-)

Since then I have made great friends, in the "muggle world" and through my classes. I also became a healer, started this blog and slowly started to figure out my life. Living in London has opened lots of doors for me but now its time to leave. At least for a while. Family and warmer climates call.

Next week I am leaving for Mexico. I am looking forward it, it feels like a working holiday. Not sure what I will do but I can figure it out one day at a time. A little healing, a little writing and lots of enjoying!

A Season for Giving

My angels like to remind me that the holidays are about giving and receiving, with good reason. When we collectively feel kind and generous a cosmic window opens up to let even more blessings into the world. Some of these blessings come our way, others to to people who are more ready to receive.

I am not sure what the difference is, but I would like to think that being happy and willing to give plays a part in it. So give a smile, give a little bit of your time, give a hug, or a friendly word to someone on the street (or in your life). This Christmas I am giving my full attention to my family so this blog is going on holiday, for real this time. See you in 2014!
