I'm Nearly There!

I have two weeks left at my job! Can't believe it has gone by so fast. Nearly six months ago I handed in my resignation; mostly because I wanted to do something different with my life. Healing will be a big part of it. In the next few weeks I hope to set up shop. I'm also going to continue writing. Initially I didn't think I had it in me to be a professional psychic. It has been about 3 years since I started taking psychic development lessons. Flies by!

Not sure if I'll ever give a full hour session. Right now I can work my way up to 15 minute readings. Even that is a stretch because I speak very quickly; written readings are better because people can read them at their own pace. I also like my approach of giving short readings to lots of different people. Sure, you can go into more depth with a full hour session, but a focused 15 minute session can also give you lots. A little redirection and some focused feedback.

I really enjoy shuffling cards to trigger the readings; more often than not the reading won't ressemble the official card meaning. The characters on the cards seem to go off-script in my mind. Whatever I see the doing is what I communicate in the reading. For example, when I pull the knight of earth several things can happen. Sometimes I see the knight nodding and then riding off. Other times he watches me, telling me to start working. Still others he dismounts and comes over to chat. LOL. This sounds really nutty!

Angels, Trumpets and Gold

My new psychic class began today! Our tutor Michelle came in with loads of Christmas Cards, postcards and photographs and told us to choose one we were drawn to. I spotted my picture even before she was done laying them on the table: a purple Christmas card with two lovely angels blowing their trumpets over a gold path. So cute I had to take a picture. We then went on to swapping readings on each other's cards. The messages were spot on, especially as I am new to the group. Have a look at the card:

These messages came through in the readings:
  • There's an overwhelming sense of purple, gold and silver which for spirituality. I pegged the gold for healing, and my tutor chipped in saying it was also Christ Consciousness. How awesome is that. The card feels so Christmassy to me. I love the fact that it has purple, gold and angels.
  • One of my classmates saw the gold path and told me I was on my way; though where it ends isn't clear. I'm going in the right direction and the door at the end of the path leads to a new life.
  • The trumpets represent an announcement coming up soon.
  • The yellow and purple angel represents spirituality. The one with the red rim represents grounding in the physical world. They're equally prominent which means I'm spiritual and grounded. Apparently I'm not "off with the fairies."
  • Apparently I'm also into angelic energy. So much so that I'm thinking of working with angels in my career. Oh my gosh =)
  • The dark purple represents intuition and spirituality. Light purple represents compassion, a calm nature and happiness.
  • I keep my life compartmentalised which is also true. My job sees one side of me, my healing circle and my family another. It recently dawned on me that I need to integrate better.
  • For some reason, no one mentioned that lovely star. I think its guiding me and helped me find my way to that gold path.

All in all an amazing start to the new term!

Psychic Student seeks Tutor/Class!

I was really looking forward to my new psychic development class. We were going to make our own runes, learn to read tea leaves and other fun stuff. It just so happens that this class has been cancelled. The back ups I had in mind have also been cancelled because there weren't enough students! There is one last class that I was hoping to get into if there are spaces left.

If I can't get into an ongoing class I will have to step up my extra-curricular activities. Use it or lose it. Last term I was giving 15 minute readings in class, which I really enjoyed. Maybe I can keep this up with Skype readings or by practicing on friends. The new Angel Reading Hour should also give me a chance to practice. One of my former classmates is also organising a weekly intuitive circle so that could be a good alternative to enrolling in a proper class.

That or a writing workshop would come in handy!

Resolutions for a Happy New Year

I don't have much to say this week but I still felt like blogging. Maybe it is therapeutic? So the holidays have come and gone and once again most of us are back to work. It's time for New Year's Resolutions. I have never really understood the concept of a resolution. If it is that important why wait until January? If you're going to diet, start today. If you want to make time for friends or family, start today. If it's worth it, start today! It doesn't matter if it's January or October. That being said, I have three habits that I want to build and they've become my New Year's Resolutions. They came to mind after I read Tolle's A New Earth over the holidays.

These are my life changing habits  =)

  • Bring Awareness into my Life: I have a habit of getting lost in thoughts and daydreams. When I was in kindergarten my teachers would call out to me saying "Earth Calling Regina!" I could be sitting in my chair and my energy goes somewhere else. Though this can be fun in guided meditations, it's not the best way to live your life. This year I'm going to make a habit of living in the moment and being aware and available.
  • I think I may need to work on my grounding; though I might need to center myself instead. This habit will be a mix of daily grounding and centring throughout the day. One of the reasons that I want to be grounded, centered and aware is that you are more likely to enjoy life when you're in it. I love living in London and I'm not sure how much longer I'll stay. Being grounded, centered and in the moment means I can enjoy it more. It's the only way to really experience life.
  • Now moving on to the last resolution. I am going to enjoy everything I do this year. If not everything, then just about everything. Granted, it will be a lot easier now that I'm leaving my day job to do what I really love. But part of this habit also means getting on with the changes I've planned and not stressing over what will happen. Working towards a goal is good. Channeling your energy and drive into a goal is good. Stress is no help at all. I'm looking forward to an exciting year.

The Path of Non-Resistance

I was listening to The Beatles when Let It Be came up on the playlist. Funny thing is I often listen to tunes and hum along without paying attention to the words (I can hear songwriters groaning in the background). Today the lyrics struck a chord and I hit the rewind button, specifically when the song mentioned Mother Mary appearing and saying "Let it Be, Let it Be"

Initially I mistook Mother Mary for 'Mary Mother of Jesus' (being Catholic, you can see how I made that leap). But apparently, Paul McCartney's mom was named Mary and he dreamt of her. Wow. That gives it a whole new meaning - I was touched by the story.

Let It Be: A Powerful Message

So it struck me how insightful this message is. What you resist persists. And the more we resist, the more it persists. I have heard this a million times but I don't know who gave birth to the idea.

If the Beatles predate the Law of Attraction folks, they may be the groundbreakers (no, really!?!). Eckhart Tolle explores this topic in his book,  A New Earth, suggesting the best plan is to accept our troubles for what they are, and deal with unbearable ones by:

  • Removing yourself from it, if humanly possible.
  • If not, accepting it for now, as this too shall pass ...

Raging against the situation isn't a viable option because  it would only drain our personal energy. If we can't change  the situation or remove ourselves from it, acceptance is the easiest way to live with it. This isn’t to say we give up if we feel powerless, because that feeling can be an illusion.

The difference between wanting to change it and being able to is the reason for Reinhold Niehbuhr's Serenity Prayer, which encourages to ask for clarity so that we can know the difference between those situations that we can and can't change.

Earlier this year I felt stuck in a situation that I desperately wanted out of. I threw inner tantrums draining my energy and adding to my  stress. Thankfully, nothing lasts forever and the time came for me to move on. Hindsight having the benefit of 20/20 vision; I now know that I would have saved myself lots of stress by relaxing.

Letting external circumstances determine our state of mind is akin to living on a roller coaster. In A New Earth, Tolle explains exactly how happiness is an inside job. He also teaches us how to create that bliss NOW. I highly recommend this book, if you haven't read it. For starters, it is helping me switch off the mental chatter. That in itself makes it so much easier to just let it be, let it be ...
