The Wizards Tarot, by Corrine Kenner [Review}

I am so excited to tell you about this fantastic deck, The Wizards Tarot by Corrine Kenner. I stumbled across this gem a few months ago and I can’t put it down. It's based on the standard structure and themes of tarot so you have your Cups, your Wands, your Swords and your Pentacles as well as the Major Arcana. This last one is my favorite part of the Wizards Tarot.

We use the Major Arcana to trace our journey through life, coming into contact with the big archetypes like the Magician, the Emperor the Tower or the Hanged Man. The main difference here (and it's a biggie) is that instead of illustrating the Fools Journey, we follow a student of magic and mystery as he makes the rounds with his professors. Each of the characters in Major Arcana are faculty members at the Mandrake Academy. You'll get the insight you expect from tarot as well as lessons in subjects like astrology, herbal healing, runes, divination and crystal healing for example. I think it will take me at least a year to read the book and put all of these fun lessons to practice. So much to learn!

These are just some examples:

The Empress still represents fertility, giving birth to your dreams or to a baby. But here the Empress is also the Professor of Herbal Magic. We can go with the traditional meaning or turn to the guidebook for a very thorough introduction to herbal magic and plant healing. The images are also incredibly beautiful, with lots of symbolism and meanings.

The Star tells us that all is well, to trust the divine plan. And she is also the teacher of Astrology, giving us a complete rundown of what we can find in our birth charts, including planets, stars and houses. If astrology is something you want to delve into, Kenner published a book called Astrology & Tarot that is also a fantastic read (love them both).

The Hanged Man tells us to pause for a moment and see things from a different perspective. This is actually one of my favorite images, as he's sitting right side up (not hanging upside down) now that he's turned his life around. Here we learn to use runes for divination, insight & manifesting. We can use this deck to give readings based on the traditional imagery and themes of tarot, while discovering healing, astrology, divination and manifesting at the same time.

There are twenty-two cards in the Major Arcana, lots to learn! We also get a special treat from the Minor Arcana. There is a “practical magic” spin to all of the element cards (wands, cups, earth and swords), so that you can focus on a particular card to shape your future, etc. I am just getting to know the cards and I would recommend them 100%. The iPhone apps are also fantastic, complete with a tarot reading tutorial by a company called The Fool's Dog. I couldn't resist getting both versions!

Color Healing Meditation (2/2)

I am really pleased to share this meditation from my book, A Personal Guide to Self-Healing, Cancer & Love. Color Healing is one of my favorite techniques, incredibly accurate and easy to follow. The name says it all: we tune into the body and subconscious through the use of color meditations. The idea is to view our Inner Self with love and then heal and release any stuck emotions or hurts. Please keep in mind that energy healing and meditation are complementary to medical care, not alternative. Use this as an intuitive guide only.

Universal Color Meditation

Intent: Heal and release emotions and energy from the body

Sit down in a quiet, comfortable place. Bring your attention to your breathing and observe its natural pace. As you breathe in, you take in healing energy from the universe. On the out breath, let go of all of the tension in your life.

Bring your attention to your Heart Chakra as it fills up with green healing light. This light fills you with comfort, warmth and love. Stay with this throughout the meditation and let your intuition guide you through the rest.

Now bring your attention to your body/Aura/Chakra. How does it feel? Is there a particular area that you would like to heal today? Let your intuition guide you.

Ask your body to show you a color. Go with the first color that comes to mind. Is it a solid color? What does it feel like? Is it light, heavy, breezy? Slow?

Now ask the color to tell you how it feels. There are no right or wrong answers, everything is valid and deserves to be heard with love and compassion.

Thank the color for opening up to you. See and feel it filling with white or pink light. This light gently dissolves the color and releases it from your body. Bless it with love and forgiveness. Stay with this as long as you like.

Next we will fill the space with liquid gold. This gold light has the highest vibration of any energy. Visualize it filling any holes and sealing your energy.

Once the space is warm and full of gold, let that gold light trickle down through your Crown Chakra and gently fill your body, your Chakras and your Aura.

Sit with this for a few minutes and bask in the warm gold light.

Bring your attention back to your breath as it settles into its natural rhythm. Feel the weight of the chair beneath you; the soles of your feet. Take your time and slowly bring your attention to the room.

When you are ready open your eyes.

The meditation is just below, though I find its best to record yourself and play it back (your energy responds to your voice!)

Color Healing Meditation (1/2)

Last week I discussed Medical Intuition and how listening can be a powerful healing tool. The idea is to communicate with our cells, organs or even with our Chakras to find out what the body needs. Are we pushing ourselves too hard or not enough? Is your diet optimal? Maybe you need more sleep or more exercise to feel energized. A simple meditation can give us the answers. By listening to the body's intuitive messages open ourselves up to receive intuitive guidance from our Soul. Those messages can appear as feelings or physical sensations.

Along these lines, I would like to share an excerpt from my book, A Personal Guide to Self-Healing, Cancer & Love. This particular passage is on Color Visualization, a tool that we can easily combine with Medical Intuition and healing to make the listening process easier.

Color Healing and Visualization
“One of my favorite healing techniques involves visualizing colorful energy in the body and the Aura. I sit in a quiet place and use my mind’s eye to scan for any energy that feels out of place, slow or tense. When I find an area that I want to work on, I use my imagination to give it a color. This makes it easier to identify the emotion that is held in that part of the body. For example, if I see or feel the color blue in my shoulder it could represent an undercurrent of sadness. The healing involves asking what this blue represents. The subconscious answers the question with an intuitive thought or feeling. The location in the body can also give clues. For example: The sadness might be in my shoulder because I did not reach out for help. We can work on releasing the color with a simple meditation.

Color Healing Meditations involve bringing your attention to the color and letting yourself feel it. Because the meditation is done with the intent to heal, merely directing your attention to the color will bring the consciousness of healing to that part of your body. You may start to notice intuitive thoughts, emotions and feelings. Memories might also surface and this is part of the process. It helps to observe the feelings, bless them with love and let them go. When that is done, bring your attention back to the color and visualize it filling with white or pink light. The light dissolves the color and releases the emotion from the body so that your personal energy can flow freely again. The meditation can be used on any part of the body, the Chakras or the Aura. It can also be used to visualize the tumor as a color and dissolve the emotional energy it holds.

It is worth noting that the same color can represent different things to different people. For example, grey often signals apathy to me. If I notice grey in a Healee’s Solar Plexus I would take it to mean they are apathetic about taking control of their life, as the Solar Plexus is the personal power center. For others it might represent the qualities of iron. They might sense grey energy in their Healee’s Solar Plexus and take it to mean that they are extremely strong. The person who sees the color relies on their intuition to interpret it. Colors are not inherently good or bad, they are just signals from the subconscious. No matter what color we see or feel, it can be healed and released using the same guided meditation. It is important that we embrace whatever we find, even if it makes us feel uncomfortable. Fill it with light and let the power of love heal it.”

You can also put colored pencil to paper and draw your Aura as you'd like to see it. Your intuition will give you the colored blueprint for perfect health, so color your heart away and keep it as a Colorful Vision Board. Let your intuition guide you as you engage with psychic art and healing in a fun way. It's also great to reconnect with our Inner Child through crayons and paper. Let your imagination be your guide!

A Case Study in Medical Intuition

Medical Intuition was one of my favourite subjects at the School of Intuition & Healing. As crazy as it may sound, the idea is to communicate with the body by asking questions and listening for a response. Our organs, Chakras and even our cells can be incredibly chatty. The liver will dish on the client's diet, too much of this and not enough of that. The pituitary gland can give us a rundown on the endocrine system.

We find aspects of our personalities in the different organs. Torn between following your Heart and your sense of duty? Your Chakras may reflect that tension. We also learned that the body can tell us what happened in a person's life to trigger feelings of sadness, confusion or loss. Medical Intuition is about listening as a healing tool. We coax the body into revealing pockets of energy that need healing, ideally before they manifest as a physical imbalance. You can do it yourself.

As an intuitive healer, it's not uncommon for me to notice these pockets of energy during sessions with clients. To use an example from my book on Self-Healing, Cancer & Love, a few years ago I had a young man come to see me for healing. Whenever I tuned into his energy I was immediately drawn to his Heart Chakra, even though he had come in for a different reason. In Healing School we learned to use the left hand for listening and the right for healing.

A Case Study from School

Holding my left hand just a few inches away from the client’s body, I asked his Heart Chakra to open up, telepathically of course! The images that came to mind led me to believe that he had deep rooted feelings of anger and disappointment towards his parents, all of that energy had been stored in his emotional heart. I thanked his body for sharing these impressions and sent healing to his emotional body.

After the session I asked about the relationship with his parents. It turns out that as a child, he had been pulled into their custody battles. The experience caused a lot of pain and even though a decade had passed, it could still be felt in his energy field. It's worth mentioning that these feelings were stored in his emotional body, not the physical. We worked on healing and releasing this energy over the next few weeks. I’d like to believe that energy healing helped him stay ahead of the curve. We can all use energy healing, meditation and other tools to put these experiences behind us.

Next week I'll post a short Color Healing Meditation to get you started. It's quite simple and we can all tune into our body for answers. The idea is to combine energy healing with conventional medicine and lifestyle changes for a comprehensive approach to health and wellbeing. If you'd like to learn more please see here for A Personal Guide to Self-Healing, Cancer & Love. While the book was written to help families who are coping with a cancer diagnosis, the healing tools can helpful in a wide range of situations.
