Certified Angel Card Reader Course!

I just signed up to take Hay House's online Certified Angel Card Reader course! So excited! Doreen Virtue and Radleigh Valentine have been travelling the world teaching this course for a few years, but I had never been in the right place at the right time. My mom forwarded me an email a couple days ago - and voila!

It will be fun to see how the theory lines up with my own approach. The past five years I have taught myself to read cards, starting with the classic Tarot and then moving onto many of Doreen's decks and a few by Colette Baron-Reid. All fantastic. Oracle Cards are fun and also a bit of a cheat. My Angel Reading tutor always encouraged us to rely on intuition and clairvoyance. If you develop that connection first, the oracle cards speak to you on a whole other level (and you don't need them so much). But oracle cards are loads of fun, and if you try both, the details that come through can be more precise. =)

You'll also get four decks in the mail. One of them is the Angel Tarot deck, which I looooove using because of the simplicity and beauty of it.

Does sharing have to be selfless or painful?

One of the things that I have had to let go of is the idea that if we help someone, it has to be 100% altruistic - in order for the action to be good. I don’t know if this is an idea that I adopted in childhood seeing others hold up selflessness as good - “give till it hurts” etc. The world would be a much better place if we knew that it is always in our benefit to help others. We always get something in return, directly or indirectly 💛 🫶🏻 Research shows that kindness makes for a much healthier society. I read a book last year called Shadow, Self & Spirit on transpersonal (or collective) psychology. There was a chapter on the psychology of evil and violence. People are less likely to harm others if they experience some form of compassion in their lives, or if they believe that someone cares about them - even if it’s a public figure, a politician, a celeb, or a deity like Quan Yin. Or better yet, family members, friends, and strangers. Random acts...

Is Manifesting for Real?

A while ago I wrote a post asking if spirit guides are real - pointing out that we have to challenge our beliefs, and also how we interpret what happens to us. Let's not get stuck in an idea or a worldview.  So today I'm going to take this approach to manifesting - is it for real? I don't think manifesting is for real, nor should it be the main focus in our lives. And honestly, I say this despite evidence to the contrary in my own life, i.e. things that I've manifested.   My issue with manifesting is that it's focused on ourselves, and what we can get in the material world. Personally, I've had good results applying conventional methods to get ahead - with help from my angels and guides. But still, it took drive and ambition to find a good corporate job in London, years ago. That and focusing on my personal competencies, and on the soft skills that were needed. Putting myself out there, networking, knocking on doors. Real world activities. And luck, that is a...

Looking into a Reiki Meta-Analysis (Clinical Study)

A few days ago, I came across a Reiki meta-analysis that was published last year. A meta analysis is a very large study that compiles other studies, in this case randomized controlled trials, and aggregates all of their data. As I have mentioned before, one of the challenging things about holistic studies, and clinical studies in general, is making sure that they accurately measure what they intend to measure. Note: I may come back to this in the future to keep refining information and thoughts, and to simplify it.  In the meantime, my first impressions :  Effects of Reiki therapy on quality of life: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.   Syst Rev. 2025 Mar 27;14(1):72.    The participants in these studies were cancer patients, surgical patients and people with chronic issues (including high stress) who were not hospitalized. There weren't enough people in those study groups to generate reliable statistics for cancer vs surgery, but when all of them...
