What is Energy Healing?

This blog covers energy healing and psychic development through the Chakras. I have summarized the basics below; have a look! ❤️ Regina

What is Energy Healing?

Energy Healing takes into account the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of health & wellness. It relies on an intuitive connection with the body as well spiritual energy which is channeled through the Aura and Chakras, whirling through their themes and experiences. This aligns us with a sense of peace and flow in life.

The technique itself is simple, relying on Intention and visualization to activate the flow of energy. Below you will find an intro to the Energy Body and a meditation.

Please Note: Energy Healing is complementary to medical care, not alternative.

The Human Aura

The Aura is the energy field that surrounds our body. You may be able to feel it as heat emanating from the physical body and there are now special cameras that are able to photograph it. Beyond this, we also know that there are layers to the Aura and each of these stores particular experiences and information.

There are at least 12 layers to the Aura, but to keep it simple, we can think of 4 big layers:

- The Physical:  This Aura layer is closest to the human body and extends for up to a couple inches. Our physical symptoms are often present in the physical aura layer. For example, as a healer I may feel a lot of heat or tingly sensations over a client's right knee. If I mention this to the client after the session they will often tell me that they are recovering from surgery, they fell down, etc.

- The Emotional:  A former colleague asked about the Aura; does it change color and shape and wouldn't that relate to our moods? Yes! That is correct, the emotional Aura layer is partially responsible for that. The feelings we have about our life and experiences are stored in the emotional Aura layer. Empaths perceive other people’s emotions through this Aura layer - it is good to clear and shield the Aura so that we do not take on their issues.

- The Mental:  Our thoughts, beliefs and ideas are stored in the mental Aura layer. As a healer, I may suspect that a client spends a lot of time worrying or analyzing because my hands feel the buzz when they are scanning this layer. Especially around the head. People with lot of clutter on the mental Aura layer have been known to complain of headaches. Energy Healing on a mental level refers to clearing of limiting beliefs and perspectives, as well as general stress relief.

- The Spiritual:  This layer is linked to the Crown Chakra, which connects us to our Higher Self and to God. We balance our natal astrology charts and make transits easier by healing this layer with crystals and essential oils (details here) - good riddance Mercury RX! Past lives are healed, opening up our soul's gifts. The natal chart provides a roadmap for healing on this level, which then filters through the rest of the Aura.

The Aura

The Chakras

I am going to keep this short and sweet as I've written an entire book on the Chakras (read it here). Chakras are energy centres in our auric field that run through our body front to back, extending about 3 feet in either direction when fully activated. In resting mode, the Chakras sit closer to the physical body. The fluidity of our Chakras is influenced by our thoughts, actions, and experiences. Our Chakras also filter the energy that we send out into the world, and the energy that we take in. Each of our Chakras is linked to a different life function and a specific set of organs.

  • The Crown Chakra is our connection to Spirit, God, and intuitive guidance. It extends upwards out of the top of your head. When it opens you may feel a prickly sensation on your scalp.
  • The Brow Chakra is linked to the mind, also our sight, thoughts, and analytical capabilities. It is level with your forehead and sits perpendicular to your spine. Clairvoyance and imagination relate to this Chakra.
  • The Throat Chakra should be easy to locate! It has to do with communication and governs both our listening and speaking skills. A well developed and protected Throat Chakra will also help you hear your angels and guides.
  • The Heart Chakra is our centre of love, both romantic and platonic or familiar. A healthy Heart Chakra will enable you to feel loved, supported and cared for in this world. It is also the gateway for abundance, receiving and sharing it.
  • Solar Plexus Chakra: I love this Chakra! It is linked to the ego, but it is also linked our personality. The Solar Plexus holds our personal identity, and that is a wonderful aspect that needs to be celebrated and encouraged. It is our center of power and outwards focus. Too much SP can also be a problem though so don't let it go wild.  =)
  • The Sacral Chakra is linked to our creative drive and passion in the world, as well as our sense of abundance. It is connected to the emotional Aura layer and is the Chakra through which we have energetic and/or emotional exchanges with other people. This is the center of passion and everything that we have an appetite for. Empaths who feel other's pain too easily may put on weight here as a physical form of protection. Where is it? The tummy!
  • The Root Chakra is linked to community, safety, grounding, and feelings of economic and material stability. It is located at the base of the spine and runs down through your legs if you are in standing position.
  • The Earth Star Chakra is likely my favorite. If you are sitting or standing, you'll find it about 10 inches below your feet in the ground. Traditionally seen as brown or black in color, it connects us with Mother Earth and makes it easier for us to feel spiritual energy in plants, rivers, crystals and other natural elements. The higher realms open up to us when we connect with the Earth Star as it gives much needed grounding.

Below is a rough guide of where they are located:

Living from the Heart...

On a subconscious level we each tend to keep our energy in a particular part of the body. People who overthink things spend a lot of time in the Brow Chakra. This won't necessarily lead to the right answer. People who see life clearly are gifted with a well developed and clear Brow Chakra. Things just make sense. For things to make sense, we may need to adopt an impartial frame of mind. And hopefully one in which we are also attuned to that higher guidance from our guides, angels, and Higher Self. Most of the books and classes I've taken point to the Heart Chakra as the "right" place to be centered. Our Heart Chakra is directly linked to our Crown Chakra which gives us that access, but also our Root Chakra which keeps us connected to earthly matters.

To center from the Heart, visualize pink or green light in your Heart Chakra and send a ray of light down to the center of the Earth. See and feel it connecting with a Rose Quartz and let that crystal’s energy flow up to meet you. Wrap yourself in that loving energy - bringing your Aura close around your body. Send any excess feelings or emotions into the ground.

Getting Started

This meditation will guide you through the chakra clearing process. Enjoy, and follow the links below to Chakra Healing & Magick, my latest book 💖💖💖

When we become intuitive, we are more likely to feel other people's emotions. The good news is we don't need to worry about that as long as we are grounded, centered in our Heart Chakras and shielded. Read the book to join me on this adventure; it is available on Amazon below (and through the Kindle app for iPad readers) 💕

The Indian & Tibetan River of Buddhism (Class Review)

Before we dive into our latest topic I wanted to mention that I uploaded a meditation to Instagram and Facebook. It only lasts 2 minutes and walks us through grounding through the Heart Chakra.  Please try it out and feel free to share with friends as the technique is very simple.

I am enrolled in an online class at Columbia University called The Indian & Tibetan River of Buddhism. Signed up when quarantine began and I am glad I did. The class is taught by Dr Robert Thurman - one of the founders of Tibet House in NYC and Uma's dad. I am enjoying it. We are only on the second week but I wanted to share it now as you will still be able to sign up HERE

So far we have covered the history of Buddhism: what society, culture and government were like 2600 years ago and why the Buddha's approach to happiness, compassion and freedom from the hierarchy of caste systems was appealing to so many. It also feels like a lot of the concepts are relevant today, especially the study of the nature of reality and how we can find happiness.

The class looks at the concepts of Dharma (as far as I can tell, a search for truth), the Eightfold Path and how these lay the groundwork for enlightenment through meditation. If I understood correctly, to become enlightened is to have your human mind grow to the point where it becomes obvious that we are interconnected and that personal gain is an illusion. When someone else hurts or is in pain, a part of us is in pain and doesn't know it.

Before we are aligned with the collective's happiness as a win-win scenario, we have to work on our inner selves and find our own happiness - which isn’t necessarily dependent on external factors. It also helps to have an understanding of what it means for everyone to win.

This made me think about why it is important to heal ourselves, working through feelings of anger, doubt or unhappiness -  and to express those feelings by journaling or other means, rather than suppressing them. To quote Professor Thurman:

"Only a self-fulfilled truly happy person can embrace the happiness of others as his or her own heart-felt goal"

The other thing that I loved about Professor Thurman's class is his interpretation of meditation in one of the last steps of the Eightfold Path. When the texts speak of meditation, the translation is not just to meditate /concentrate - but to bring into (your) Being the quality that we are meditating on. This resonates 100% from a Reiki point of view and from an intuition point of view because whenever I have tried to connect with Buddha, I kept getting the message to meditate on Happiness and I didn't know that that meant 😅

Buddhism also emphasizes love, compassion and impartiality - though it is not selfish to want to be happy, as I once had to remind myself. Please join me in meditating on health and happiness.

A Crystal Grid to Remove Turbulence

Hi Chickpeas, This week I have a few thoughts to share with you -  firstly, I am enrolled in a fun class at Hibiscus Moon's Crystal Academy and one of the things we have covered is how to create grids - essentially crystal layouts which can be charged with specific intentions 💝

The concept of programming crystal grids to send healing resonates with me. In Reiki classes we learn to program crystals for distant healing. One of my Reiki teachers set up a grid - actually four - and placed them at the North Pole, South Pole, Jerusalem and Hawaii to cover the four corners of the Earth (that is William Rand of the ICRT). Reiki practitioners all over the world have a picture of it and we use that image to send Reiki to the World Peace Grid, and through it, to the world.

We can use any type of crystal to send healing but as mentioned in Chakra Healing & Magick, my ideal starter kit would include Rose Quartz, Amethyst and Clear Quartz as we can cover all our bases with these three - including self love with the pink, clarity and purpose with clear, and the ability to transmute any difficult vibrations into love with the violet stone (more on that HERE

FYI - These are not my crystals (sourced on

Below you will find a grid that I set up to transmute household stress during quarantine. It has one of my favorite stones, Black Tourmaline - great for stress relief and transmuting negative energy, and Blue Apatite to dispel confusion. It may or may not be a coincidence, but the stress felt with my quarantine buddies went down substantially after setting up the grid this weekend.

This morning I switched the intention for this grid to send peace and grounding to the whole world. Feel free to take a picture of the grid and visualize it radiating light to you. And if you would like bring energy healing into your own life in a proactive way, please read either of my books to awaken your Inner Healer and connect with your intuition for guidance and support (See HERE).

An Astrology-Inspired Meditation

Beyond that I would also like to share an energy healing meditation with you. A lot of what we are experiencing now can be explained by looking at the planets, especially Pluto and Jupiter in Capricorn - both of which can create quite a bit of upheaval. When Capricorn shakes we tend to feel insecure or scared and in my case, meditating with Black Tourmaline has done a lot to calm my nerves. Please try this guided meditation to transmute the feelings of stress and uncertainty.

Capricorn is an Earth sign, concerned with financial issues and the stability we enjoy in the material world. It also relates to authority and governments, which are all being shaken up at the moment. Pluto pushes us towards transformation and it would be much easier for all of us if necessary changes happen with love and proactivity, and not from a place of reactivity or fear. Pluto transits through Capricorn every 250 years. It has been in Capricorn since 2008 and will leave in 2024. In 2020 the effect was multiplied by Jupiter's 12-13 month transit through this sign, and Saturn having just exited it (a lot of weight in one sign). As well as pushing us to find new footing, upheavals in Capricorn bring up a shadow of fear and uncertainty.

Meditating with Black Tourmaline crystals has helped me a lot - especially the past few years as I have a key planet in Capricorn and had been feeling anxious even before this. Those of you who are into Bach Flowers Remedies may want to try Mimulus Remedy as it is said to help calm fears related to Capricorn, acting on the emotional body. As always, energy healing and vibrational remedies are complementary to medical care, not alternative.

Hibiscus Moon has a book on crystal grids, if you’d like to create your own. I find that it helps if we combine that with Energy Healing, as discussed in other posts and in my own books 💞

What Do Happiness & Magic Mean To You?

I have spent quarantine meditating with crystals, journaling and going for walks to clear the air. One of the themes that has been running through my mind is the concept of magic and if we can manifest anything we visualize. Call it magic, manifesting or the law of attraction...

This particular question is time-sensitive now that the whole world has received a cosmic time out, with a bit of fear and uncertainty thrown into the mix, and lots of time to contemplate our lives.

The message that came through today was that YES - everyone can experience happiness, love, security, health and belonging, but how it looks will be different for each of us.

We won't all have a house as big as Oprah's - or a big business to run - but we can all have and deserve to have work that we we enjoy, a beautiful roof over our heads and loved ones to share this with. And to be honest, many of us wouldn't enjoy the pace and maintenance that go with a lifestyle and a career path as big as Oprah's. Or any wildly successful individual. Most of us want a happy and healthy life, as stress-free as humanly possible 😅

Magic begins with visualization and intention, followed up by action. The idea is to focus on the essence of what we are visualizing, not how it takes shape. Think about welcoming Love, Happiness, Security, Health and maybe Adventure to your life, rather than asking for a specific outcome, object or need-filler. And if we're feeling sad, angry or jealous it is important to address that too; we can rely on energy healing and creative tools to process our emotions (link).

Where do we begin?

👉🏻 With introspection - What do love, happiness, security, health and belonging mean to you? What do you need to feel secure, financially and emotionally? For me the biggest learning has been to feel satisfied with what I'm experiencing and let that happiness bring extras to my life. I know that can be tough or even impossible in certain circumstances, especially when things go haywire. If all we can do is survive then take it one day at a time. But I feel that many of us are being pushed to go within and to reinvent ourselves both individually and as a community.

One of the things I love about the Chakra System is how it gives us a roadmap to find answers through meditation. As mentioned in my book, chakra healing is its own kind of magic. The Heart Chakra opens the gates for us to receive love, wealth, healing and miracles. The Brow and Solar Plexus hold beliefs about whether we deserve to experience those qualities, and if we think we can have them. Belief in impossibility is a huge barrier. The Root Chakra deals with financial security and sense of belonging. The Throat and Sacral Chakras pour energy into our action plans and determine how vocal we are about them. There are many ways to go about healing and opening the chakras, meditation is one of my favorites! Here is a recording to get started (via YouTube)

If you would like to know more I have an entire section dedicated to manifesting a life that makes us truly happy as well as two books on energy healing, intuition, crystals and creativity. The e-books and/or paperback are available in 12 countries through the Bookstore HERE

Stress Relief 101: Grounding and Clearing

If there is one thing I have learned as a Healer, it is the value of learning to ground, clear and shield our personal energy. By clearing the Aura we release other people's thoughts, feelings and emotions from the mind and body. Grounding then keeps us from being shaken up in the first place - and it is as simple as closing your eyes, breathing slowly and visualizing an oak tree.

Nowadays a lot of that topsy-turvy energy finds its way to us through social media and the internet. With everything that has been going on, a lot of us have been feeling overwhelmed. Please follow the link below for an intro to energy management. There are many ways to clear ourselves including meditation, breath work, crystals, flower essences and even dancing. The PDF will guide you through these essential steps - Chapter 1 of my book, Chakra Healing & Magick!

This is more than enough to get you started. Or go ahead and dive into the magical world of energy healing, crystal empowerment and intuition via the Bookstore HERE!

Shine a Light on Your Life with Tarot

It has been eleven years since I acquired my first deck: The Mythic Tarot by Juliet Sharman Burke. I loved that it was based on greek myths and that it felt like a magical work of art. Tarot in general can be seen a 78 paintings that tell a story. This one in particular told the story of greek gods, goddesses and the humans that crossed paths with them. If we take a step back to think about ancient mythology, we see characters with traits that can be described as human and divine.

My feeling is that ancient myths encouraged us to grow and achieve our full potential, without losing sight of human nature and the chaos that an unhealed egos bring about. As the Reiki teacher William Lee Rand says, a happy and healed ego is filled with strength and purpose; an unbalanced ego undermines our lives. In my experience, healing the Solar Plexus Chakra is vital because that is often where inner struggles lie. There are many ways to go about it; I like to blend Reiki or Energy Healing with Tarot as outlined in my latest book on Chakra Healing & Magick.

Why Healing with Tarot?

At first I was drawn to the artwork and the card meanings, but eventually I realised that tarot cards are a great tool for personal growth and knowledge. Most tarot decks are based on the Rider Waite deck from the early 1900's, with personality traits and skills depicted in the suits of Fire, Earth, Air and Water; and 22 Archetype cards representing major growth phases in life.

We see ourselves reflected in the cards and this makes it easy for us to understand the subconscious choices we make. It is like watching a movie and seeing yourself in the characters. Tarot cards shed a light on what needs healing and integrating. The secret is to choose a deck you resonate with thematically and visually. You'll find some of my favorites on Instagram HERE 💕

Taschen's Salvador Dali Tarot

The Salvador Dali Tarot deck is a must have for art and tarot fans but I would avoid shuffling them so as not to spoil the deck. Each card literally is a painting and the book is beautiful.

Tapping Into the Unconscious

I like to ask for clarity on current circumstances by accessing my intuition through the cards. Each of the images has been designed to convey a theme, a challenge or an emotion. When we see the cards on the table, the ones that evoke the strongest emotional reactions are the ones with a message for us. It helps to sit with the cards we dislike and journal about our feelings. With that done we can then come back to the ones that feel better to get a complete view of the reading.

There are many people who use tarot to ask about the future, and this has worked for me on numerous occasions. However I feel that the real value is in letting the cards open our eyes to all of the stumbling blocks that we have put in our own way so that we can heal them. This helps us move through life - for example by telling us that we are acting out of fear, or maybe stuck in the past. The awareness is empowering if we make inner changes.

The Magic is in Your Aura

The Aura can be visualized as a sphere of light around the physical body. It is a psychic muscle that both stores and transmits information. At the School of Intuition & Healing we learned to divide it into four thick layers for simplicity's sake (it has about 12). One of these layers registers physical sensations while the next two register emotions and thoughts from our surroundings. The last one makes it possible for us to feel the presence of archangels.

When we activate our Aura to read the cards, the information that is stored in the Aura's many layers comes to the surface so that we can integrate it consciously. We see themes reflected in the cards; the images that stand out have the most relevant message. This also happens when we read tarot for someone else - your Aura reads their Aura, receiving intuitive messages through your emotional Aura layer. Reading tarot at a distance changes the dynamic slightly, but we can all activate our intuitive reading skills. The process is in Chapters 5 & 6 of Chakra Healing & Magick, on energy healing and psychic abilities.

Let's Get Ready

Before doing any kind of intuitive work it is important to clear and shield your Aura and the space where you'll be reading. We also set the intention to connect with Divine Light so that we tune into the messages that help us grow with compassion. The archangels can also help us clear and shield our space so that we are better able to receive messages. Based on my student years at The College of Psychic Studies, the first one that I reach out to is Archangel Michael. He channels the element of Fire - clearing, healing and transmuting our energy.

Here is a tarot tip - clearing your Aura before shuffling the cards will wipe away superficial worries, giving us a chance to go deeper in our self-healing sessions.

We can activate our intuition with a simple meditation (on YouTube). Keep your cards nearby and set the intention for them to be cleared before looking through your deck and choosing one as a journaling prompt. You'll find plenty of ways to connect with your intuition and your creativity in Chakra Healing & Magick, available worldwide through the Bookstore HERE

And one last surprise 🤩 I recorded a short introduction to healing with tarot below. Have a look and get started with your cards! Please reach out on social media with any questions.
