Learn to Read Your Astrology Chart

The past few years I have been combining energy healing and angel intuition with astrology. The Angels and energy healing were introduced in Chakra Healing & Magick, the stars add a new layer.

One of the first things that I look at in a natal chart is the balance of Elements and what might be missing. The angels help us blend and activate the Elements of Fire, Earth, Water and Air as we tap into our full potential, giving us the qualities of inspired action, groundedness, empathy and a mind that is clear and flexible.

The idea is to work with the natal chart as a roadmap for personal growth. The next few months I'll be covering the basics of an astrology chart on Instagram each Thursday, along with healing tips. 

Astrology can be complex; the #AstroPizza helps us make sense of the chart. 

Let’s think of an astrology chart as a pizza with 12 slices. Each slice (HOUSE) represents a part of your life. The type of cheese (ZODIAC Sign) on each slice tells us how that part of your life will taste to you, based on your time of birth. Lastly, the number of jalapeños or pepperoni in each slice (PLANETS) indicates how intense a part of your life will be. If a slice has no jalapeños it still has flavor, but we might be drawn to spicier slices. Too many jalapeños and we might stay away. 

👉🏻 The 12 Houses are always in the same place but the Zodiac rotates twice daily. Below you'll see the House numbers on the grey circle in the center, with the Zodiac on the outer rim (Sagittarius is circled). The black icons represent the Planets; they move with the Zodiac Wheel.   

The Planets and Zodiac Signs in a given House (or Slice) tell us how we experience that part of our lives. Just to give you an example, the 1st House is how we see and present ourselves to the world (identity), 2nd is belongings, income and self worth, 4th is home life, 7th is marriage & partnerships, 10th is career, 12th is the unconscious & past lives. The Zodiac circles through each chart based on your time of birth, and the houses bring it down to Earth (relevant for you). 

The natal chart tells us where our strengths lie, where we can thrive, but also where we trip ourselves up. The idea is to become aware of stumbling blocks so that we can avoid them, whether it's at work or in a relationship. This is where energy healing comes into play; we work with the Aura on mental (beliefs), emotional and Spiritual levels, clearing the weight that those patterns carry. This was covered in Chakra Healing & Magick, along with intuition tips to guide us.

Soul-Healing with Archangel Raziel

Archangel Raziel is one of the angels that I connect with most often. He resonates with the planet Uranus - insight, illumination and cosmic connection - and as an Aquarius, I love that vibe. Like most of the archangels, his name comes from Hebrew. We can get a sense of what angels represent from the letters in their name: Resh (R), Zayin (Z) and Yud (i) with El referencing the role that angels play as messengers of Light. 

Hebrew letters have a number, a meaning, and an energy signature. They are also said to be conduits of energy and according to the Sefer Yetzirah, visualizing the letters as black fire against brilliant white light activates them in the physical world*. The Hebrew letter Resh brings Peace*, Zayin is a blade that cuts through illusions of fear or confusion, and the Yud represents the spark of divine light that resides in all of us.  

Archangel Raziel guides us in soul-healing and symbolism, especially where past lives, family lines and unconscious attitudes are concerned. Lighting Candles with Magick

The past few years, I have been working with Fire, Earth, Air and Water to heal and balance my personal energy. This after I learned to read astrology charts four years ago and discovered I had virtually no Fire or Water in my chart. We need all four to function properly.

Each of these gives us a different quality or skill. Fire gives us confidence, ambition and creativity. Water is all about intuition, emotions and personal relationships. Air is about communication skills, thought processes, thinking skills and how we see things. Earth makes us practical, grounded and materialistic; it relates to spiritual and physical wealth and how we experience it.

When I mention that I have little Water in my natal chart, people are surprised (2 of 10 planets and luminaries). My saving grace is Mercury in Pisces - the planet of the mind in a highly imaginative, intuitive and empathic Water sign. Nevertheless, I did have to put in a lot of work to connect with my emotions and intuition. It took a year of weekly intuition classes for me to get to the point where I felt relaxed. Now that I am teaching, I find most of my students are quicker to access their intuition. Having looked at some of their charts, astrology explains it.

Which brings me to the other Element that is underrepresented in my chart - Fire! Without Fire, our enjoyment levels go down and the motivation that keeps us going disappears. Fire gives us ambition, confidence and belief in ourselves. One of my tarot students put it perfectly, using exercise as a metaphor. We all know it is healthy to go to the gym or to work out. If you find a work-out that you love, time flies and before you know it an hour has gone by. With other workouts, we might give up after 10 or 15 minutes. This definitely rings true for me - spinning classes fly by and an hour is gone before I know it, but after 15 minutes on the elliptical I am bored silly. 

The past few years I have gone out of my way to channel Fire and Water in Energy Healing sessions. The intention is for the archetypal energy to become part of me so that I can rely on it in my daily life. There are many ways to go about it. The easiest has been to call on the Archangels that govern the Element that we are missing - Michael for Fire, Gabriel for Water, Uriel for Earth and Raphael for Air. Another option is to meditate with the Moon as it travels through the Zodiac. I have been connecting with the Moon in Scorpio to dial-up both Fire and Water. Scorpio is a Water sign, but it is ruled by Mars, the planet of ambition, war and sports. People with lots of Scorpio energy tend to have tons of intuition, fire and power in their lives. It is pretty intense though and grounding and healing ourselves is incredibly important (true for any star sign).

The Elements Are Magickal Too

Six months ago I signed up for a class where we learned to channel the purifying and healing qualities of archetypal fire. It is a Reiki class so the energy flows from your hands and it is so intense. I had always had strong sensations with energy healing but with this new Reiki, I sometimes feel like a character in a Marvel movie =) 

Last week I tried to light a candle but it would barely take. Then the symbol that we use to activate Reiki Fire flashed through my mind and I intended for it to go to the candle. It lit up!!! I was so excited - it's the witchiest thing I have ever done. Then this week we were talking about the Elements in class, and when I mentioned Fire the students gasped and pointed at the candle in the room. I didn't see it, but apparently, the flame lit up when I mentioned Fire.
