What Do Happiness & Magic Mean To You?

I have spent lots of time meditating with crystals, journaling and going for walks to clear the air. One of the themes that has been running through my mind is the concept of magic and if we can manifest anything we visualize. Call it magic, manifesting or the law of attraction...

This particular question is time-sensitive now - this March 2020 - as the whole world has received a cosmic time out, with a bit of fear and uncertainty thrown into the mix, and lots of time to contemplate our lives.

The message that came through today was that YES - everyone can experience happiness, love, security, health and belonging, but how that looks will be different for each of us.

We won't all have a house as big as Oprah's - or a big business to run - but we can all have and deserve to have work that we we enjoy, a beautiful roof over our heads and loved ones to share this with. And to be honest, many of us wouldn't enjoy the pace and maintenance that go with a lifestyle and a career path as big as Oprah's. Or any wildly successful individual. A lot of us just want a happy and healthy life, as stress free as humanly possible 😅

Magic begins with intuition and intention-setting, followed up by action. The idea is to focus on the essence of what we intend to create and not how it takes shape. Think about welcoming Love, Happiness, Security, Health and maybe Adventure to your life, rather than asking for a specific outcome, object or need-filler. And if we're feeling sad, stressed or angry it is important to address that too; we can rely on energy healing and creative tools to process our emotions (link).

Where do we begin?

👉🏻 With introspection - What do love, happiness, security, health and belonging mean to you? What do you need to feel happy or fulfilled? For me, a big learning was to be satisfied with where I was in my life, letting that gratitude bring extras. I know that can be tough or even impossible in certain circumstances, especially when things go haywire, as they have now. If all we can do is survive, let’s take it one day at a time. But I feel that many of us are being pushed to go within and to reinvent ourselves both individually and as a community.

One of the things I love about the Chakra System is how it gives us a roadmap to find answers through meditation. As mentioned in my book, chakra healing is its own kind of magic. The Heart Chakra opens the gates for us to receive love, wealth, healing and miracles. The Brow and Solar Plexus hold beliefs about whether we deserve to experience those qualities, and if we think we can have them. Belief in impossibility is a huge barrier. The Root Chakra deals with financial security and sense of belonging. The Throat and Sacral Chakras pour energy into our action plans and determine how vocal we are about them. There are many ways to go about healing and opening the chakras, meditation is one of my favorites! Here is a recording to get started (via YouTube)

If you would like to know more I have two books on energy healing, intuition, and creativity. Creativity can be artistic, but it also relates to your life - imaginanging, sculpting and creating that life. The e-books and/or paperback are available in 17 countries, in the Bookstore HERE

Shine a Light on Your Life with Tarot

It has been eleven years since I acquired my first deck: The Mythic Tarot by Juliet Sharman Burke. I loved that it was based on Greek myths and that it felt like a magical work of art. Tarot in general can be seen as 78 paintings that tell a story. This one in particular told the story of Greek gods, goddesses and the humans that crossed paths with them. If we take a step back to think about ancient mythology, we see characters with traits that can be described as human and divine.

My feeling is that ancient myths encouraged us to grow and achieve our full potential, without losing sight of human nature and the chaos that an unhealed egos bring about. As my Karuna Reiki® teacher says, a happy and healthy ego fills us with strength and purpose; an unbalanced ego undermines our lives. Healing the Solar Plexus Chakra is vital because that is often where inner struggles lie. There are many ways to go about it; I like to blend reiki and energy healing with tarot, as outlined in my book, Chakra Healing & Magick.

Why Healing with Tarot?

At first I was drawn to the artwork and the card meanings, but eventually I realised that tarot cards are a great tool for personal growth and knowledge. Most tarot decks are based on the Rider Waite deck from the early 1900's, with personality traits and skills depicted in the suits of Fire, Earth, Air and Water; and 22 Archetype cards representing major growth phases in life.

We see ourselves reflected in the cards and this makes it easy for us to understand the subconscious choices we make. It is like watching a movie and seeing yourself in the characters. Tarot cards shed a light on what needs healing and integrating. The secret is to choose a deck you resonate with thematically and visually. You'll find some of my favorites on Instagram HERE 💕

Taschen's Salvador Dali Tarot

The Salvador Dali Tarot deck is a must have for art and tarot fans. Each card literally is a painting and the book is beautiful.

Tapping Into the Unconscious

I like to ask for clarity on current circumstances by accessing my intuition through the cards. Each of the images has been designed to convey a theme, a challenge or an emotion. When we see the cards on the table, the ones that evoke the strongest emotional reactions are the ones with a message for us. It helps to sit with the cards we dislike and journal about our feelings. With that done we can then come back to the ones that feel better to get a complete view of the reading.

We can use tarot to ask about the future, and this has worked for me on many occasions. However I feel that the real value is in letting the cards open our eyes to all of the stumbling blocks that we have put in our way; then we can heal or release it.

This approach helps us move forward, for example by telling us that we are acting out of fear, or stuck in the past. The awareness is empowering if we make inner changes.

The Magic is in Your Aura

Let’s visualize the Aura as a sphere of light around the physical body. It is a psychic muscle that both stores and transmits information. At the School of Intuition & Healing we learned to divide it into four thick layers for simplicity's sake (it has about 12). One of these layers registers physical sensations while the next two register emotions and thoughts from our surroundings. The last layer makes it possible for us to feel the presence of angels and spiritual energy.

When we activate our Aura to read the cards, the information that is stored in the Aura's many layers comes to the surface so that we can integrate it consciously. We see themes reflected in the cards; the images that stand out have the most relevant message.

This also happens when we read tarot for someone else - your Aura reads their Aura, receiving intuitive messages. Reading tarot at a distance changes the dynamic, but we can all activate our intuitive reading skills.

Let's Get Ready

Before doing any psychic work, we set the intention to connect with Divine Light so that we can tune into the messages that help us grow with compassion. The archangels can also help us clear and shield our space so that we are better able to receive messages. The first one that I reach out to is always Archangel Michael.

Here is a Tip! -  Always ground and clear your Aura before shuffling the cards as this releases superficial worries, giving us a chance to go deeper in energy healing sessions.

Grounding, clearing and shielding is covered in Chapter 1 of Chakra Healing & Magick. Just keep your cards nearby and set the intention for them to be cleared as well, before shuffling through your deck and choosing one as a journaling prompt. You will find plenty of creative ways to connect with your intuition in the book; the ebook and/or paperback are available HERE!

Tarot Meditation (2023)

And one last surprise 🤩 I recorded a short tarot meditation - pull a card!

Understanding Energy Healing, Grief and Cancer

It has been seven years since I published my book, A Personal Guide to Self-Healing, Cancer & Love. At the time, I was keen to share what I had learned of energy healing with others, especially family members and carers, as that has been my experience.

The role that a person’s emotional health plays before a cancer diagnosis was of particular interest, largely because of my family's history with this disease.

Here are my thoughts on the topic:

1) Revisting our Emotional Toolkit. Let's begin with the toughest question: In energy healing circles, anger is often mentioned as a precursor to cancer - whether a person has trouble letting go of it, or they are sweet as can be and never seem to get mad.

This is a persistent theory, one that I have come back to often. If we compare a variety of risk factors for cancer, the potential link between anger and specific types of cancer is less clear than the link with obesity, smoking or sun exposure. We shouldn't play the blame game in either case, but there is something to be said for raising awareness - and making a distinction between culpability and responsibility. The latter empowers us with the knowledge that can help us live healthier lives in the future.

2) What Does The Healing Theory Say? Energy Healers are taught to ask about events in the years leading up to a diagnosis, operating on the assumption that cancer often follows a big upset in the patient's life. In these cases, one would send healing to the memory or emotion in the patient's body and Aura. We can use energy healing and meditation to release emotional baggage. This approach is always complementary to medical care, and because energy healing and meditation help us relax, they can be useful for the whole family. Though ideally, we’d work with our emotions before it comes to this.

3) What Does The Science Say
? A 2013 meta-analysis (basically, a whopper of a clinical study) by Peking Union Medical College appears to have found a link between striking life events and primary breast cancer in women. These striking life events were defined to include situations that anyone would struggle with, for example, the death of a child or spouse, forced relocation and other life-changing losses.
While the researchers do indicate the need for further studies to understand the connection between acute stress, grief and primary breast cancer, they also conclude that "women with striking life events were at 1.5-fold higher risk of developing cancer than women without."

Though not specifically about anger, I believe these findings put emotional healing and stress relief in the cancer prevention sphere. In these cases, one would benefit from psychological counseling, meditation and energy healing.

>> If a cancer diagnosis has already been made, the focus would be on conventional medical care and relaxation techniques to help the patient navigate the process.

This book is meant to empower the reader with a broader perspective. Namely, how there are a range of risk factors that we can influence: diet, weight, smoking, alcohol and even genetics. And how energy healing, meditation and other relaxation techniques are needed to help the whole family cope with feelings of fear, grief and anger after a cancer diagnosis.

Energy Healing is complementary to medical care, not alternative.

In instances where a family member or friend was diagnosed with cancer, the focus has been on supporting them during surgery, chemotherapy, radiation and other treatments. Another big learning has been to continue supporting the cancer survivor after treatment ends, when life goes ‘back to normal’. This is often when unprocessed emotions come to the surface.

Transformative Healing with Malachite Crystals

Malachite is a beautiful green rock that stands out because of its many layers. It took me nearly three years to find one and it has been a favorite ever since. I had never felt my Aura buzz with electricity just by holding a stone in the palm of my hand 💚

The structure allows us to peel through layers of emotional guck so that we can focus on an issue, gently releasing the beliefs and pain that stand in the way of our personal growth and happiness. This stone works on all levels of your being.

Malachite is a fabulous option if you would like to ground yourself and awaken your inner power by shifting mental blocks and emotional baggageFrom a personal growth perspective, the green stone helps us heal the discomfort and fear that often make us feel ungrounded in the first place. When we are ungrounded, the manifesting chakras (Root, Sacral and Solar Plexus) lose their oomph, making it harder for us to set goals and achieve them. 👉🏻 Please note, raw Malachite can be toxic, so find yourself a polished stone.

Crystals can be a part of your daily practice, for example, daily  meditations, intention setting, chakra and aura balancing, etc. We can approach this intuitively, letting the crystal tell us how it can help us. This is how we approached them in my first Reiki classesyour intuition has the big picture. Books add to that with specific information, but trust your heart.

It’s easy to go over board with lots of crystals - if in doubt, start with amethyst or malachite. The tools in Chapter 5 can be used to channel crystal energy without having a rock in your hands - a tip from healing school (rocks are $$$ in the UK).

Regina

Quick Edit: I rewrote this post in August 2024 to focus on how malachite is part of my healing practice. It used to feature a meditation; you’ll find those on Instagram.com/reginachouza
