Astrology and the Fire in your Aura

I first published this article on a friend and fellow blogger’s astrology site in August 2022. Sharing here to make it available to my blog readers.

***

As an energy healer, my approach has always been to look at the stars as a map that we can follow to heal ourselves. No matter what we see in our natal charts, we can lean on energy healing and a bit of psychology to help us get around issues.

Early on, this holistic view brought up a lot of questions. Where is the energy of the birth chart, is it in the physical body? How do we feel the effect of transits, and is there anything that we can do to soften the edge? And why were so many people focused on Mercury Retrograde? There are lots of planets that need integrating!

My answers to these questions are partly based on the 2-year healing course at the School of Intuition & Healing in London, with regards to the Aura having 4 main layers. That and the astrology chart of clients.

My intuition tells me that the energy of the birth chart is stored in the entire Aura, and in the transpersonal chakras, which take our attention beyond our individual lives, to the collective. These have been covered in previous posts; you’ll find a summary below.

Let’s Reach for the Stars!

Before we reach for the stars, we need to ground ourselves. The Earth Star Chakra is situated about 12-18 inches below the feet, at the bottom of the Aura. It grounds us in Mother Nature’s energy and gives us an energetic escape valve that makes it easier to withstand the ups and downs that can be caused by planetary transits. The Earth Star Chakra comes alive with grounding meditations, crystal healing and nature walks. It also strengthens the Root Chakra, at the base of the spine.

Next we have the Soular (Soul Star) Chakra, which can be found about 6-12 inches above the head, in the Aura. It relates to the soul, past lives and astrology. This is where we develop an intuitive connection with the Solar System; activating the Soular Chakra makes it easier for us to process astrological transits consciously.

The energy of the astrology chart flows through the Soular Chakra, into the spiritual Aura (the outermost layer). If you are not familiar with the Aura, picture a sphere of light around your body. The Aura is an intuitive muscle; it reads your surroundings while projecting your energy and intentions into the world.

Working with the Aura

In healing school, we learned that the Aura has many layers. It has one for each of the chakras along the central column (with estimates ranging from 7-12). To keep it simple, our teachers suggested that we divide the Aura into four thick layers. The tools to work through the aura are in my book: Chakra Healing & Magick

The physical Aura layer is closest to the body. It relates to our experience of life in the physical world including health, vitality, productivity and grounding. It’s red and measures about 2-3 cm; the following layers are threaded into the physical layer. This layer relates to the material world and the physical body.

Next is the emotional Aura layer, where we hold and experience feelings and emotions. This part of the energy body reads our surroundings and takes stock of how others feel. If a person is highly sensitive and attuned to feelings, they are likely to have an open emotional layer. It relates primarily to the Sacral Chakra.

The mental Aura layer is where we hold thoughts, beliefs and opinions. These can be fluid and changing, or rigid and stubborn. It depends on the zodiac signs that are active in a person. Thoughts on this level impact our self-esteem.

The spiritual Aura layer stores information on past lives, ancestors, and the astrology chart. It is where intuition leads to mystical experiences. We become aware of angels, spirit guides and the guiding light of planets & stars.

The cosmic blueprint is in the spiritual Aura layer; it underpins the rest, as each Aura layer flows through all inner layers until it reaches the physical body. Based on my intuitive feeling, these layers relate to the 4 Elements and the Zodiac.

  • Physical Body: Earth Signs: Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo
  • Emotional Body: Water Signs - Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces
  • Mental Body: Air Signs - Libra, Aquarius, Gemini.
  • Spiritual Body: Fire Signs - Aries, Leo, Sagittarius.

The energy of your birth chart is captured by your Soular Chakra, in the spiritual Aura layer, and filters through the inner layers according to your natal chart placements. Let’s say a person has Venus in Pisces (Water); that is felt in the Soular Chakra (the cosmic antenna), and it is also felt on a daily basis in the emotional Aura layer. This was my big aha moment, with energy healing, astrology and the aura ✨✨

If a person has lots of Water placements, they may need to address that with energy and vibrational healing – likewise if they don’t have many. Stimulating the emotional layer adds depth to relationships and bring happiness into our lives, while grounding brings balance. The same goes for the remaining Aura layers and their corresponding Elements and zodiac signs.

Energy Healing Tips:

There are many ways to balance and integrate the energy of the natal chart. Here are some of my favorites:

- Grounding yourself in Nature and softening your metaphorical posture will help a ton; trees with deep roots and flexible trunks withstand storms & quakes. Try a simple grounding meditation; visualize tree roots beneath you and breathe deep.

- The softening happens when we work with our individual Elements to become less rigid; softening Earth with Water, and burning through rigid Mental (Air) structures with Fire. We can work with the whole Aura, or heal and integrate two layers at a time. Coincidentally, if we think of the zodiac as six coins with two sides, Fire signs are always paired with Air, sitting opposite each other on the zodiac wheel. Earth signs are always paired with Water signs. For example, if a person has the Sun or Venus in Pisces, we would ground that energy in Earth to balance it out.

- Vibrational remedies can soften the effects of the planets. So for example, to soften the transit of a natal planet in Libra, you’d try the flower remedy for Libra. That was covered in my article called: Flowers for Every Star Sign, with OM Times Magazine.

Integrating the Solar Eclipse: Your Cosmic Blind Spot

So this is going to be a short post but it’s the biggest aha moment of my life. I just realized that the biggest downfall of my prenatal solar eclipse in Leo - my cosmic blindspot - is that I am often the last person to see myself and realize how talented, creative, capable and fun I am ❤️😻

Instead, I tend to be too critical of what I do, which is also reflected in my natal chart.

The prenatal eclipses are the ones that happened when we were in the womb - the solar eclipse is your mission in life. It’s what you’re here to learn and teach by example. A mission that you can’t fail, but if you integrate it, you’ll have a much better time. Jan Spiller has a great book on this called Spiritual Astrology. The lunar eclipse tells us where we can grow through enjoyment - mine is in Pisces and I have had the best time exploring my intuition.

The blindspot and/or gift varies by sign. With the solar eclipse in Leo - which is the sun/ego/self-love, my blind spot is myself.

If your solar eclipse were in Gemini or Sagittarius, you might not be able to see life from other people’s perspectives and get stuck in your own. In Capricorn, the blind spot could be on the value and result of all your hard work. If it’s in Pisces - you might have to work harder to access your intuition. The cool thing is that astrology shows us our blind spots and our talents. It’s a map.

In the past, I’ve blogged about how the humble and self-critical sign of Virgo overwhelms my natal chart - with three heavy planets and also black moon Lilith: your greatest fear and your hidden power. Lilith in Virgo has a deep fear of failure, specifically, of not being up to par.

The upside is that Lilith in Virgo drives you to over prepare so that you can’t fail. In my case, to take tons of classes, when maybe a dozen would have been enough. The one time that I got a bad grade in grad school was due to absentmindedness; I thought I was in a different subject and solved for the wrong answer on the final exam 😂 I also failed on purpose once, it was strategic.

.>> It’s the part of me that made me think I needed more degrees. I almost enrolled in a masters in counseling psychology to feel more solid, but I’m an energy healer and that is enough (as my career - I do think therapy is super useful and necessary). And I would have loved the degree, I still want to study psychology, in less depth. To be honest, curiosity keeps me on this path.

So now I feel like I am over prepared and ready to talk about all things mystical, when all I really needed to do was enjoy the journey and have fun. I’ve always been more than good enough. You are too.

Ready to join me on this adventure?

You’ll find a write-up of my first clairvoyance class HERE. And read my book, Chakra Healing & Magick - both of my eclipses in one! The book is on energy healing and intuition, not astrology. Check out the menu bar on my blog for an introduction to natal astrology. Read your own chart!

Tapping Into Your Soul’s Infinite Potential ✨

I had a nerdy aha moment and I want to share it with you. In the past I’ve written about how, astrologically, the North Node’s zodiac sign indicates how we can find happiness outside of our comfort zone. The opposite sign, or South Node, is where we get stuck in a self defeating behavioral patterns. Moving from one to the other can be uncomfortable, and often requires self-healing. The tools in my book, Chakra Healing & Magick, will help you break free.

My North Node is in Leo - it asks me to shine bright and share what I do openly and enthusiastically. But for the longest time, I was reluctant to talk about energy healing and my mystical interests. Showing off felt like a taboo when I was growing up, and the mystical healer side was unheard of in my circle. Owning and revealing that was a challenge; my blog was anonymous for a few years. I was working in a science environment, which made it harder.

This started to change after I read my first astrology book, even though the shift was slow. The North Node gives us direction, but breaking through our deepest patterns takes time and a lot of self-healing 🌤️

>> In parallel, I have blogged about the Kabbalistic Tree of Life and how it depicts our connection with the spiritual world, as well as providing a map for the soul’s growth. The Tree is a map of sorts, with ten spheres of light, one in the physical world and the rest in the spiritual, mental and emotional realms of existence.

You’ll find a diagram below. Without going into the full details here, the bottom most sphere (10) represents the physical world and universe. The upper nine represent the spiritual realms, and aspects of your soul are on all of those, ready to wake up.

The spheres above it, 1-9 represent various degrees of divinity and on a personal level, human consciousness. We become self-aware bottom up. The themes that relate to the bottom four spheres are where we most need healing: relating, mental clarity and integrity, emotions and physical reality…

The upper most spheres (1-5) are where we connect with the parts of the soul that have been least impacted by the trials of human life, and where we find our spiritual power. We need to let go of our human insecurities to get there, including limiting beliefs and attitudes that we’ve inherited from previous family generations and from past lives…

That freedom to be yourself can be found in the 6th sphere - your Sun. This is where we choose our soul’s path over childhood conditioning, turning our attention to our full potential. Aim for the Infinite Light, the uppermost sphere and beyond. The direction is what matters, not so much that we reach it, if it even exists as a destination. The idea of aiming for that Infinite Light is in this book of kabbalistic psychology (in Spanish); my aha moment earlier this week linked it with the North Node.

Adventure  of a Lifetime - Coldplay

>> The Aha Moment: Two days ago I streamed a meditation on my spanish language instagram; the focus was healing ancestral patterns. Yesterday I was thinking about that meditation and it dawned on me that your South Node is where your soul enters the world, we find that energy in sphere 10 on the Tree of Life. Your North Node is on sphere #1, what we aim for as we grow and evolve. The ability to break free, through clarity and self-awareness, is found on the sixth sphere - that Sun 🌤️

There is more to Kabbalah than this, but each of the spheres on the Tree of Life has an archetype that relates to its energy and function. That Sun has two archetypes that help us unlock its light and power. One of them is your Soul; the task is to follow your soul’s path to infinite growth, leaving behind conditioning and limiting patterns. We each tune into a different vibration as well - what holds me back might not be an issue for others in my generation. And to be transparent, it’s not about leaving behind everything from the ancestral line, just the behaviors that worked for previous generations, but sabotage us in this life. There are a lot of good things that we can keep.

☀ Funny thing is I had this Aha Moment yesterday, and thought to check planetary transits shortly after. The Moon was at 29 degrees Aquarius - my exact South Node and what I need to leave behind. It’s my learning curve, amplified because I’m also an Aquarius. The natal chart points to our specific challenges, what we internalize.

Like I mentioned earlier, Leo is about being happy to shine, while Aquarius likes to be behind the scenes, and is a bit detached. One is creative, the other analytical. I’ve been described as being simultaneously extreme right brain, and extreme left brain. It’s hard to reconcile the two; at some point, I stopped trying. Also, I have a lot going on with the Pisces (intuition) and Virgo (science) axis - And truthfully, on both ends, I am often still in my head, not my heart.

Shining on the page??

Even as I was writing my book, Chakra Healing & Magick, I was self-conscious about it. You won’t believe it, but it’s taken me this long to be comfortable with the magick part being out there for anyone to read. On another level, Leo energy is about following your heart, and Aquarius is both sociable and community focused. The gift of the North Node in Leo is to connect with your heart, and through it, your people.

Uranus: The Planet of Disruption (Case Study)

I’ve been going over key dates in my life and checking them against transits. A transit is when a planet moves through the zodiac and makes a connection with any of the placements in your natal chart, at an angle (say 60 or 90 degrees away), or crossing it directly. The direct transit is called a conjunction. It has a strong effect but whether it's easy or hard, to be confirmed.

Uranus is the planet of change, disruption and it also happens to rule Aquarius, my Sun Sign. It has a slow orbit though, taking 84 years to go around the zodiac. Uranus transits don’t happen that often, and with big Uranus transits, something disruptive happens out of the blue 😅

A funny thing to know about me is that from age 13 to 19 (8th grade to 2nd year of college), I started the year at a different school each year. Seven schools in three countries. And it didn't feel chaotic or hectic, despite the fact that I didn't like all of the schools. If you ever need advice on what makes school fun for teens, ask me.

The first new school was the weirdest experience. My parents had been thinking of moving to a different city for a while. It was my last year of middle school - we moved and my three siblings and I were enrolled in traditional all girl/boy schools. The school system was very square. Lots of memorization with no creativity. Having been a straight A student, I failed my exams, but made good friends. Social life, thumbs up. Academics, thumbs down. It didn't last. Two months later, we visited our old haunt on Halloween - for a long weekend, and stayed. I graduated the 8th grade at my old elementary school.

I won't bore you with the rest of the details - but four high schools over the next four years, hopping across the pond to Europe, and moving to Mexico City, senior year. Then I was off to college in Boston 💜

🫶🏻 It has been fun and sometimes a bit disconcerting - with highs and lows. I loved three of the schools, did OK at two and obviously, would have liked more stability - but only if you stay where you’re happy.

Today I had a look at my astrology transits. Uranus, the planet of disruption retrograded over my natal Moon in Capricorn (crossed it backwards) the summer that we first moved, at age 13. That September, Uranus stopped its retrograde (backwards motion) at 18 degrees Capricorn and turned around; my Moon is at 19°. In November, when we'd already bailed on the relocation, Uranus crossed my Moon for the last time, in forward motion.

> Uranus’s orbit around the zodiac lasts 84 years. Those months were an astrologically predictable time for me to experience sudden changes around my natal Moon. The Moon is what you need to feel secure; it relates to your emotions and home life. An interesting preparation for what would come next: Switzerland - Mexico - Boston - Mexico - London - and now Mexico City the past ten years. I do love spending time abroad.

The moon in Capricorn seeks emotional and material stability. I created my own. Those teenage years I had a collection of photos on my wall, on a huge blue canvas. It traveled the world with me so that every new place felt like home. Blue relates to the Zodiac sign of Cancer, which rules the Moon. Bring your home with you.

The whole thing made me simultaneously resistant to goodbyes, but also, wanting to hop on a plane and travel all the time.

Reiki hugs,

Regina

Ps… The last new school (age 19), I started the semester at a college in Mexico, stayed for 1-2 months and went back to Boston.

Shine your Light Unapologetically

The sun is at 29 degrees Leo today - that is my North Node in my astrology chart. It represents what I need to do to bust out of limiting patterns. The key message is to shine without dimming my light. I’ve been working on it for a long time and although I have made big advances, there was still a behavioral pattern that I had to kick.

Without going into the details of my natal chart, Leo rules my mission, destiny and happiness in life (if I choose to accept it) but I also have three heavy planets in the Earthy sign of Virgo, one that encourages us to be humble. And in my case, to hide my light because I didn’t want to be a show off, seem arrogant, or too self-centered.

The North Node is completely outside your comfort zone; playing the observer comes naturally to me, but the North Node in Leo pushes me to take my place center stage.

As you'll know from reading Diary of a Psychic Healer, I've been on a spiritual deep dive for 14 years.

I have this pattern where I downplay the amount of time, energy and diligence that has gone into my energy healing and spiritual studies. So for example, earlier this month I wrote an Instagram post that questioned the popular New Age Lionsgate trend. Instead of just saying “I don’t see this in the stars,” I began that post with a disclaimer of “if I am reading this right.”

My intention was to imply that I didn’t have the truth, not that I didn’t know how to read charts. I wasn’t sure if that trend was rooted in aspect patterns with the planets being aligned, the time of year, or pop culture numerology. My guess was the latter.

A friend shared my post on her wall. It was met by criticism from a lady who, funny enough, mirrored the critical Virgo voice that runs through my mind: am I good enough, do I know enough, did I phrase this right? She questioned my astrology knowledge and implied that my content didn’t merit a share. I had a huge Aha Moment: I don’t have to defend my knowledge/worth to anyone, least of all a stranger online.

I’ve also been blogging long enough to know that there are lots of ways to approach the stars and spirituality.

This month’s lesson is not to downplay my talent or experience; something that I have been doing for far too long. Even in my corporate days, a friend insisted that I should put my MBA diploma on my wall (as another colleague did) so that people would know that I had a masters. I didn’t want to brag. Plus I thought it was enough that my bosses and HR knew. In hindsight I’m not sure that it would have made a difference because my commitment and ability to deliver were more than enough, too.

Or so I thought…

Since then I’ve had flashbacks to instances where I downplayed my track record with energy healing, and when I praised someone’s work in a way that made them believe they had more experience and stature than I did. Those interactions seemed harmless but the ego dynamic of ‘faux humility and shrinking to please’ creates an unbalanced relationship. It takes a lot to come back from that, no matter how long we’ve been on the spiritual path. Or maybe because of it; we need self-awareness and boundaries too.

My life lesson has been to shine brightly and let whoever wants to stick around, stick around. It takes courage to shine your light no matter who is in your orbit, and not to feel too big (or too small) around someone who also has power.

Reiki hugs,

Regina
